Question URGENT: Hot Water Issues

Hey guys,

My tenants mentioned that the hot water went out today. They restarted it and it worked for about 30 minutes and then now stopped again and they've been unsuccessful it getting it running again.

Anyone on CP or know of anyone reliable I could get to come look/fix this?

Thanks in advance!

High efficiency tank? Check the outside air in and output for ice buildup.

Thermal coupler is my guess. If not its the control valve.

ANY plumber type tradesman should be able to get you straight. Very straight forward repair.

I had something similar happen at home, gave this guy a call and he helped me troubleshoot over the phone, no charge. So I like to try and help him out - https://lonestarplumbing.ca/contact-us/

Had this happen at my business over the weekend. The hot water tank is located in a part of the building that has very poor insulation. I put a space heater in there and let it warm up, and then it fired up after a few hours with no issues. The situation you explained sounds similar to mine, and it was due to the cold.

Thanks guys, I've directed my tenants to clear the snow/ice build up outside first.

It seemed to have allowed the hot water tank to reset successfully, waiting to hear back if the hot water has come back too!
