Default final nail for NHL season ?

Just saw on twitter that the city is cancelling all events until June 30th. Seems like the end is near for an NHL season officially, let us all just hope for a normal summer at this rate.

If you haven’t heard the news, we’re canceling all City events and event permits through June 30.

The third Saturday in June, Neighbour Day since 2014., will be impacted.

BUT that spirit can’t be lost. So let’s hear your best ideas for what to do with #YYCNeighbourDay.

not surprised.

this sucks hard. at least in the lockouts we could distract ourselves from the lack of NHL with our own rec hockey leagues and other sports and new movies etc.

now there's NOTHING

If its like Toronto, this won't apply to pro sports (NHL) as they don't require a permit

The Stampede is a stubborn organization that will wait until the last possible minute to pull the plug.

Nenshi says no Flames gatherings prior to June 30 but I suppose he means practices?

They should just cancel the season. Who cares? They had no problem not awarding the cup in 2005 so just do it again here.

You're likely right, but until its dead there is enough bad news.

I personally would like to see the season cancelled and the regular business of hockey conducted on its usual timeline. A draft (done online/video conference etc) and free agency at their usual time gives us actual events to look forward to and discuss.

At this rate, we might just pick up where we left off next February or March and just finish the season then.

It was clarified at his press conference that the ban includes Flames and Stampeders games.

I don't put much faith in the season resuming, but if it does I would think it would be to empty arenas to salvage TV contracts.

Can't see the Stampede going ahead with no international travellers visiting, that is a big hole in the finances to run the thing, let alone the fact Canadians cannot travel.
