I've been thinking about firing up a Dungeons and Dragons campaign as it doesn't look like this self isolation is going anywhere any time soon. Anyone have a recommendation for a platform to use? D&D and/or the FFG Star Wars RPG.

Roll20 is the answer to the question I was asking.

Anyone play Great Western Trail? Apparently it's impossible to buy new but we found one used online. I don't follow this thread too close to have seen any discussion.

Great Western is a very good game that is pretty easy to get the hang of with a ton of variety in terms of how you can win. Lots of replayability. It's quite a lot of fun if you enjoy euros.

I'm still fairly new to games. We have been playing Suburbia, Azul, Patchwork, Sagrada, and a little bit of Feast For Odin which is too much for me. It's just too overwhelmingly difficult. We just got started on GWT tonight and will keep going tomorrow.

Where did you get it from? I could only see it being out of the UK with crazy shipping

I got it at the store in new horizon mall. I got lucky and emailed them just as the shipment was coming in. They had at least one other copy on Friday.

We've been looking into getting a board game called Gloomhaven. Has anyone here played it? Looks pretty deep. The problem is, the prices seem to be jacked up pretty high right now. I think it's a $130-$140 MSRP but it's selling for $250-$300. Not sure when the next run is going to be.

It is a huge game but fun. It takes a while to play because it is so big, but I mean, what else are you doing now?
The price is jacked because it is still popular and people are finally getting time to finish it. Check places like Sentry Box and such, you may get lucky and find it in stock for the normal price.

EDIT

In fact it looks like Sentry might have one in stock but it is $188

Teo might be my favorite game in my collection now. Halfway through a solo game to learn all the details. I don't quite understand yet how to foil the bot, but I am leading after first eclipse. The solo game is very scalable if you want to make it easier or harder. Overall the game has a great deal of variability in set-ups and ways to score points, and the expansion offers 5 more modules. Beautiful board and components (wood pyramid tiles). I learned too that Teo predates the Aztecs by many centuries (may have been Toltec?).

Nice, which reminds me I should play Gloomhaven as I now have the time and it's just gathering dust on my shelf.

I ended up putting a dollar pledge down on Kickstarter. I can unlock a purchase for Gloomhaven after May 1st and have it shipped for July.

You wont find it at that price. Even a year ago when i bought it, I was lucky to find it in the $150-$160 range as a Amazon Prime member

If Sentry box is offering $188, I'd say that's pretty fair

Sentry Box doesn't have it.

I tried Gloomhaven, I dunno, it just wasn't for me. I was super excited to try out this new card combat system, but then realized they just replaced the DIE with a random generated deck multiplier. The way abilities work is pretty intuitive I will give them that, but honestly I would rather just roll a die than be picking from that other pile.

I also couldn't get behind all the funky classes/races. I am a pretty traditional fantasy fan, classic classes and roles. It is an incredibly well designed game, and sooooo deep. But ya..

I also didn't like the standees. With contrast paints now you can bang out mini paint jobs at a very quick pace if you just want tabletop standard. I prefer a miniature on the table versus a standee even if it means less variety.

But I am in the minority obviously as the game was widely popular.
