Probably. I don't know how it can move forward without a vaccine myself.

Does this mean awarding the Stanley Cup by November the latest, or resuming the season the latest?
I can't really see the latter being feasible since it would screw up the following season's schedule too much. But if it's the former, I could see it if they're willing. The next season would be just similar to a lockout season where they do half of the games, and start up in January. This would be two years of significantly altered season schedules though. So 2021-22 would be the first 'normal' season.

At this point, I wouldn't be all that interested in seeing the season restarted, because frankly if they lift the social distancing self guaranteeing thing, the last thing I want to do is sit on my couch and watch TV.
Poop can the season, don't award the Cup, start training camp in Sept.

I'll take a strangely formatted hockey tournament in July. Even if it ends up being more or less a flop for excitement with empty buildings as well as credibility.
The seasons all blend together after a while. At least this would be memorable.
Patio on a summer night with hockey? Hell yeah.
That said I don't think we'll have non essential Canada-US travel by then so unlikely to happen at all. But hypothetically speaking.

That border better not be open up any time soon. At this rate America is setting themselves up for a second wave this year and it's going to be ugly.

We're all getting a second wave, the U.S wont even notice the second wave amidst their 1st wave, thus making it a tsunami of covid.

Sportsnet has been experimenting with this for years, by not having a mic for the crowd.

Are you sure that was experimentation and not them messing up the audio?

This is actually a good opportunity to reset the timing of the season as a whole. Why not have the season start two weeks earlier, and end two weeks earlier. There is always a waning of interest in the playoffs by June, as other summer events take off, and people are chomping at the bit by October.

Sportnet always experiments with what the worst possible product that they can produce, that the audience will still watch.

Restart whenever its safe, but make it a one-time, 164 game season. Combine this almost finished season with the next one.

With reports swirling about a potential NHL return in July, Weise said the concept is news to him.
“To be honest, from a player’s perspective, I haven’t heard any of this stuff,” Weise said on Sportsnet 650’s Reach Deep show Friday. “You’ve gotta be real cautious with what you’re hearing.
“Obviously, when you look at playing into the summer, we already gave up our last paycheque. You have to see — we’d have to go through a vote. Players would have to agree to it.”
Weise echoed (and gave credit to) the comments made by teammate Brendan Gallagher on Thursday, in that the NHLPA would have to be involved before anything was set in motion.

Like when the glass breaks with 5 minutes left in the second period. Perfect!
