Maybe it’s just me but I didn’t have Phillips or Gawdin in my top 10.
The first 6 picks are defiantly top 10 but these two guys have me wondering about their potential in the NHL.
Phillips would instantly become the smallest player in the league. I’m not saying he can’t work through that but the odds are stacked against him.
Gawdin, I like him but I see 4th line forward written all over him. Sure there is a chance he becomes a 3rd liner but that’s not how I would vote for my top 10 prospects.
I guess it’s just a matter of opinion but for the most part having the potential to develop into a top 4 dman, top 6 forward, or starting goalie are what I look for when determining my rankings.
Maybe I just don’t have high hopes for these two haha.

Don't really understand the love that Gawdin is getting at this point. Does he really have a good chance to be more than a 4th liner? A 23 year old with good numbers in the AHL, but didn't have impressive numbers in the WHL until his 5th season. He looks like a tweener like Quine or Czarnik. Would definitely not be in my top 10.

People have explained - at some point on this list, many go with guys who seem more likely to make the league as a fourth liner, because others, no matter how they might top out in a perfect world, are extremely unlikely to see even one game. Like a Steve Tsjiura.

Yeah, no way Phillips/Gawdin should be ahead of Zavagorodny, Poirier, or Kuznetsov in my eyes.
Went with Poirier, but probably should have gone with Zavagorodny.

I went with Kinnvall-a guy who is a young D man, already playing in one of the top hockey leagues in the world against men, and is DOMINANT. 8th in league scoring last year, 2nd for defensemen, and this year he already has 7pts in 5g. He's a shoo-in for a spot on the team at some point next year, and he could be a steal.
I like the fact that so many posters have faith in Poirier as a prospect, as I really liked that pick. He has the speed, smarts, and stickhandling (one of the best in the draft) to overcome his defensive shortcomings-no doubt in my mind. He's going to be a beast.

So as I post ...
Gawdin 61
Poirier 54
Zavagorodny 53
Gawdin wins or is that close enough to have a three way run off today, graduate just one player, and send the other two back to the list? (Those in a hurry keep in mind we have 28 players on the list and about 8 weeks until NHL camps open)

I think Gawdin should go through, and we should move on to the next round

Tough call, but I would do a run-off. Gawdin is currently winning with barely more than 27% of the votes cast. I don't think that is significant enough of a margin to punch his ticket.

There are 56 votes for none of the three, so I think a runoff must be required. That's almost 25% of the total.

Gawdin won.
Sure, he only had 27% of the vote, but only 25% of the vote chose someone other than these 3. In order for Poirier or Zav to overtake Gawdin, they would win to win a significant percentage of the other vote. It won't happen. This is enough of a lead to call it a win.
For example, if Zav continued to receive his 24%, Poirier would need to outpace Gawdin by about a 3 to 2 margin, to overtake him

3 to 2 margin of the 'other' vote (assuming they all retain their current votes)

Gawdin. 47 points in 53 games in the AHL as a 22 year old is a high water mark I expect very few of the remaining prospects to achieve, I'll take that over a handful of prospects who have a low chance of ever playing in the NHL.

I will admit I haven't paid too much attention to our prospects in previous years, but I remember some hype around Adam Ruzicka... has he fallen off or did I dream that?

Ruzicka looked very good in the return-to-play training camp.

Do tell?
Wasn’t his skating the main thing holding him back? Or am I thinking of someone else?
