19.5 at night upstairs. Perfect temp. Sometimes 19c. Why have AC if you aren’t going to use it to max effect ?!?

I just let my Ecobee with room sensors on the three floors to take care of things as it controls the furnace, A/C and humidistat.

19? Really? Are you wearing sweaters year round with that setting? Wow.

In our place we have the air conditioning set to 24 in the daytime and and 22.5 overnight. In the winter the heat is set to 21, but this place is really bad for drafts so it feels colder than 21.

I like how this thread always gets bumped on hot days. Like the fancy pants AC people are taunting us non-AC people.

The thing I worry about is the pipe freezing when having the AC work so hard. Well, that and 19.5c is too cold for me. 21c is my ideal temperature. In fact, when I wake up, I like it to be a bit warmer (around 22c).

Know what's great...I put a baseboard heater in my master bathroom. Some people have radiant floor heating, but I didn't think of it when we did our reno a few years ago. Anyway, I crank the bathroom up to 24 and it's glorious being so warm in there in the mornings.

We set our AC to 25 over the day, 24 in the late afternoon/evening (typically when used to come home from work) and 23 overnight. It generally stays cool enough over the day that the system doesn't come on until later in the afternoon unless we have blinds open etc. But our upstairs is still overly warm with this setting while it feels chilly on the main floor. Having zones in the house would be nice.

Have you messed around with closing vents? It's so easy and can make a huge difference. If your main floor is too cool, shut a couple vents and it'll even things out with the upstairs. Just have to open them back up when you need the furnace.

Currently getting one installed to taunt all my non-AC neighbours. I live in Chilliwack and it gets hella hot here up on a hill.

Never been more sure of a 5k purchase as I am now.

Well, might as well pile in too. I pulled the cover off the AC today and had relief within minutes. Moved in September last year so hadn't had a reason to try the central AC in my new place yet. What luxury

I wish I had this. The main floor is fine, and now we need blankets and crap sitting inside on a 30C day because the AC needs to be cranked to cool the upstairs enough.

Are you guys worried about AC kicking on overnight when it's chillier outside?

We have it top floor only so we don't run it until the afternoon...

Our lower levels furnace doesn't seem to be wired for a 'fan only' function right now (only 2 wires to our nest...). Any easy fix?

After playing with various temperature settings, the family voted on 24.5C as our ideal temperature. AC kicked in at 9:30AM today for upstairs unit and hasn't stopped running. Main floor/basement rarely kicks in as cold air flows down from upstairs, so we kind of regret putting two units in.

24.5 seems so weird to me. Why even bother with ac? Would you keep your furnace at 24.5 in the winter? No, because that would miserably uncomfortable. Room temperature is 20-22. 24.5 is uncomfortably warm.

We have a bit of a heatwave this week in BC. Temperatures near the water reached around 31C. But oh baby, we’ve got the AC going around 17C and I am living large.

We're at 21c during the day, and 18c at night. Go big or go home.
