To be fair, last night’s was only because the wranglers surrendered a late goal to make this happen, but still—he had to score the goal, so, good on him…and what a beauty it was!
PS: When the Gulls scored that second goal, me and the guy in front of me both clapped because we knew it’d be Bishop’s GWG. Other fans around us were wondering what was wrong with us
Was also at the game last night and was really impressed with a few players’ individual games, including Hunt and Poirier.
I’d really like to see Poirier get a call-up in the near future, if only for a few games. (I *think* he’s still waiver exempt…?) He looks very confident in his game and relaxed. Plus, he made a sweet play to create the game’s first goal last night.
Underdogs ciona pims and points (low key pospisil lite ciona supposed to be faster this year) and kuznetzov plus 9.
I see them up one day maybe just me. Not high end prospects but numbers look good. Again pospisil don't write off physicality and all around game include d too soon
Stromgren too. High skill i feel maybe 15-20 upside with speed
The American Hockey League announced today that Calgary Wranglers forward Rory Kerins, San Jose Barracuda forward Collin Graf and San Jose Barracuda goaltender Yaroslav Askarov have been selected as the league’s award winners for October.
Kerins, the AHL Player of the Month, scored nine goals and totaled 11 points in 10 games for Calgary as the team raced out to a 9-1-0-0 start to the season.
Kerins began the season by scoring twice in a 4-3 loss to Abbotsford on opening night. He recorded his first career AHL hat trick on Oct. 16 as the Wranglers defeated Coachella Valley, 3-1, and struck twice more on Oct. 18 during a 5-3 win at Henderson. Kerins scored again to help Calgary rally from two goals down for a 3-2 win over Colorado on Oct. 25, and he closed out the month by scoring in a 6-2 victory over San Diego on Oct. 31, the Wranglers’ ninth win in a row.
Kerins’ nine goals already put him more than halfway to his total of 16 from last season, which was his first full season in the AHL. The 22-year-old native of Caledon, Ont., has played 74 career games in the AHL with Calgary and Stockton, totaling 26 goals and 19 assists for 45 points. Kerins was a sixth-round choice by the Calgary Flames in the 2020 NHL Draft.

Not much hype around him. Too soon? What am I missing?
Seven goals in three of the first four games of the season.

I'm sure you're kidding, right? Only three of his nine goals have been outside of home plate.

Yes, he's generated some goals, but the majority off it has been off the work of others. I think that's why he's not generating much buzz. He's really not creating much on his own and has been extremely opportunistic or lucky. Kind of playing the garbage man role, which looks good on the scoresheet but not so much on film. Forwards that have impressed to me have been Bishop, Morton, Pelletier, and Stromgren. They have been really good at creating opportunities.
