Some GM's are pretty recognizable even if you're not a fan of that team, for example Lou and Burke. A lot of them are ex-players, so I'm sure a lot of people recognize someone like Conroy before they recognize other Flames executives when they see them out and about. Of course Yzerman, Sakic, Blake are GMs.
For the Sabres, assuming the cousin is a Flames fan, Housley is the head coach and Musil is a scout so those are two "execs" that could be recognized pretty easily by older Flames fans.
And then of course there's times when you can just tell without knowing any faces. Tall and athletic looking? Nice suits or maybe one with a Sabres blazer on?

My neighbour is on a plane and he just texted me there are a couple Sabres execs on their way to Calgary. Maybe just to interview Derek Ryan...
Obviously coming to convince Brouwer to waive his NTC to go to Buffalo.

Tim Murray looks like Dwight Schrute, so I would have recognized him when he was the Sabres GM. I couldn't tell you what Botterill looks like. Hell, I couldn't have told you his name if it hadn't already been posted.

I guess I'm not a hardcore hockey guy. How would he know what the Buffalo execs look like? I mean, I get following rosters and players - but it isnt like I would be in the Airport and think 'gee, that guy looks like The Sabres accountant from the 3rd floor'.
Well I thought it was kind of funny that he was telling me that. Typically these guys have Sabres luggage tags and stuff on their bags.
I was in Chicago getting my bags next to Bobby Hull. I didn't approach him, but his bag was loaded with NHL identifiable stuff.

They often have team bags or other logos (easier to recover at the airport?) That's how I first spotted Hartley on his way out of town. I was impressed he was still using Flames kit despite being fired.

There’s an article up on Sportsnet right now saying Neal turned down a 6.5 million a year offer from Vegas, saying he’s looking for at least 7 million. In my opinion he’s not worth anywhere near that.

Definitely not. Stay far away from that type of player/contract.
JVR I think is worth it, but for 4-5 years. He'll likely get 6 or 7 years, but those last 2 will be bad value IMO.
I'd take him here though gladly. But the contract will be scary.

2 year term sure but no way any longer than that
