Cassie Campbell shouldn’t be “learning on the job” in the NHL. That’s crazy.
She thought Gio was being ejected for a knee. She didn’t hear the post or the goal horn on the Carolina non-goal. How obvious was that? She constantly overtalks during the play.
I like her. I respect what she did in women’s hockey. I want to see the glass ceiling in pro sports broken. But she isn’t ready for prime time, and I am paying to watch pro sports. It’s damaging to the product when your own fans are watching the opposition broadcast.
How many other teams have a color person with zero NHL experience?
My recollection is that Kelly Hrudey was worse than Campbell when he started and was awful for several years. He’s now one of the best.

Saved me a lot of typing. Well said!

Love how Mike Smith is such a battler. I knew he was a good goalie from his run with the Coyotes. But I had no idea of his intensity of just how good he can be. Awesome acquisition by BT.
Love his passion too. When Stempniak scored to ruin the shutout, Smith gave him a good whack with his stick and a shove after. Game was all but decided by that point but he was still pissed about a goal against. Love that. He’s also appears to be more consistent with regular rest. It seems like he becomes fatigued/complacent when over-played. Having a high quality backup like Rittich has been so far is an unexpected luxury. Team plays well in general regardless of which goalie plays and Smith can stay fresh with more rest.

For those who think Cassie Campbell's performance is on the job training quality or should be replaced go listen to an oilers broadcast. She is significantly better than Rememda. She is adequate for a regional broadcast.
We have been spoiled with the best hockey colour guy in the world on our regional program somanything but him is a big drop off.

Everything I complained about the Flames not doing or doing wrong earlier in the year is almost completely gone now. The two main differences I see are far better puck support and much more aggressive D both on offense and defense. Jumping into plays, pinching, joining the rush has all been much better lately. But we are also seeing the D put more pressure on the puck carrier and making gone entries much more difficult. I think both Stone and Hamonic have looked really good this month. So much nicer to see.
Absolutely great games lately. Just damn good hockey the Flames are playing. Playing fast, smart and with a tonne of confidence. A complete 180.
