Came to this thread to say what Cecil said early on about DSOTM. The Doors is another good one.

At least some have tried reeling things in to the past couple decades in the last page or two.
Umm, this may come as a surprise to you but for the last 70 years or so there's been technology available to the general public allowing for the recording, and subsequent listening to, of these things called "albums".
This has been revolutionary because it has allowed people from subsequent generations to enjoy and appreciate "albums" recorded years, or even decades, before they were even born.
Recent technology has gone so far as to allow people to stream individual "songs" from these "albums" right on their mobile devices and smartphones.
You should try it. You may find that there are some artists that are pre-2010 with some pretty decent skills.

Lets Dance, David Bowie - Modern Love, China Girl, Lets Dance
Most artists or bands would be hard pressed to create 3 songs with such a wide range of sounds/styles for one album period, let alone having one after another on that album, but Bowie managed to do this on almost every album he ever made. He was such an amazing artist.
Off the top of my head my 3 song run choice would be the opening 3 tracks from the At the Drive-in album Relationship of Command:
-Arc Arsenal
-Pattern Agaisnt User
-One Armed Scissor
