I still like Chris, Brian, Stewie, Joe and sometimes Quaqmire. Other characters at times. The last great episode they did was the Murder at James Woods' house.

An Italian dog? This show has gone down hill the past few years to join the crapiness that is now the Simpsons. American Dad & Bob Burgers are the only animated Fox shows that are any good.
Yeah, like many people said it seemed like a desperate way to increase the shows ratings again. I haven't watched the show regularly in a while, but ended up catching this episode.
As for Brian coming back, well it could happen, and this is the kinda show that it would happen on, but I'm not sure his name in the title is a clue of that. I was thinking for a while he could still be a character through flashbacks, memories, and even ghostly appearances.
Heck for someone who created shows with talking pets, and alien, and a bear that goes to work, why wouldn't they have a ghost character?
Of course, I guess that's the same as bringing him back.
CC is right though, the characters have just changed and wimped out too much. It's always a problem in sitcoms, animated and otherwise, that the main characters end up becoming caricatures of themselves. One of the easiest ways to write is just one up the situations and characters all the time, and a lot of sitcoms get stuck in those traps. But in this situation it's one of the worst examples of that.
Brian became pretty unfunny a few years ago, he became more of a pretentious dou### then anything else.
The fact that all of the characters had major personality shifts killed the show. Stewie went from an evil genius trying to kill his mother and take over the world to a semi closeted gay dumbass. He went from spitting in Brian's face when he left home and burning him with a blow torch to sobbing uncontrollably.
Lois went from a defeated housewife with nymphomania to a bland nothing character
Chris went from a social awkward fat kid being woo'd by the neighbourhood pedophile to a cardboard box
Meg just simply became a abuse sponge who never fought back.
Peter went from a stupid but well meaning oaf to a pretty mean spirited ######.
Its just not a good show anymore.
I agree with most of this, but not the bolded part.
Gay Stewie >>>>>>>>>>> Evil Stewie. I sometimes find the really old episodes and the evil Stewie thing gets annoying very quickly. To me the best Family guy episodes were from 2006 - 2010.
I do agree that the show has gone down hill, but I still watch it every weekend out of habit. I do find some of the episodes funny and entertaining, especially the Stewie and Brian episodes. If this Brian's death thing is permanent, they have definitely lost one of their fans. Last night's episode really pissed me off.

american dad is going over to TBS next year, so they'll only have bobs burgers...
The truth of the matter is that all these shows are really complete and total garbage when compared to the first nine seasons of The Simpsons. I like American Dad quite a bit, but it never has come close to when The Simpsons was in its prime.
Maybe Seb is just a tad slow?

Quoted for truth with the exception of season one. I still find the old Simpsons episodes hilarious. Family Guy became irrelevant for me a long time ago and even in it's prime it wasn't better than the Simpsons or even Futurama. These days the only animated show worth watching is Archer.
Does Seth have a hand in American Dad? If so, I hope he concentrates on that if Family Guy ever kicks the can. If not, I hope he keeps far away from it so as to not ruin a good thing.
Unfortunately, the more likely scenario is that American Dad dies before Family Guy. They've already changed networks.
I believe Seth is pretty hands off on American Dad, thus why it is such an great show still.

It's an internet mash up, using the Simpsons episode with Poochy the Dog.
