Absence makes the heart beat faster.
Is that the way the old saying goes? Maybe I have it twisted up a little bit.
Point being, 24 is back. And while it had reached the stage where I wasn’t all that chagrined when it departed four years ago, TV — I guess, specifically, network TV — certainly can use the shot of adrenaline that the return of Jack Bauer will provide.
The full title is 24: Live Another Day, and it debuts Monday with two hours of action on Fox and Global. Unlike the previous eight seasons of 24, which aired from 2001 to 2010, this new season will consist of only 12 hours, told in “real time,” which always has been the format of the series.
You should rename the thread to "24: Live Another Day" so that this can be an ongoing discussion on the new series. I'm definitely tuning in. 24 was the best action show out there! Kiefer is such a badass.
I've read from several reviews that it harkens back to the classic 24, and there is plenty to like in the 2 hour premiere.
I hope many tune in, and if indeed the quality is up there, we can keep the series going a little longer. With the writers having taken a hiatus to refresh and a reduced number of episodes, the show could go out with a bang instead of the whimper that was season 8.
Hannah vs. Jack and Chloe vs Catelyn Stark? Awesome.
It was a highly entertaining premiere. I like the premise, how Jack has gone completely rogue and can do pretty much anything this time around (but not like he followed the rules before). And I buy his motivation, as the Hellers were very important to him in his CTU days. The first two hours were fairly predictable, but knowing 24 there will be plenty of curve balls ahead. I have a hunch that Chloe's freedom of information group leader is in on it.. It will be interesting to see if Jack and the Pres/Audrey cross paths and what happens with that. Also as obvious as the girlfriend disguise part was, it was still an awesome scene. Classic 24 (there's always a mole)! Hearing the clock ticking again made me very happy.
It was good but a little disappointing - Yvonne going full rebel first hour in with the guard, and I can't see a military commander sitting around with his thumb up his nose when someone's telling him he's under target and to get away.
Can someone refresh me on who things went south with the Hellers? Why did Audrey go ####oo? I remember Jack zapping her ex with those lamp wires to make him talk but was there more to it than that?

Does this clear things up?
Spoiler!
When Jack Bauer, Audrey's lover, was abducted, Audrey searched through back channels to locate him and went to China in order to rescue him. During her time there, Cheng Zhi staged her death and kept her hostage with the intentions of using her for leverage against Jack. Audrey was in a catatonic state as of Day 6, but eventually recovered and remarried, serving in the presidential administration of her father.
I would say the first "two hours" in last nights episode were pretty darn good. Hearing that music and watching Jack beat up henchmen was nostalgic for sure but honestly I was entertained the whole time.

Nitpicks I know, but still...
No kidding.
I know its just a tv show, but scenes like that are annoying.
