Gary Martin is the music director of "The Funk Brothers," the legendary studio band of Motown records. He has also been the music director of The Heavenly Blues for over 20 years. As well as a renowned and acclaimed performing ensemble, The Heavenly Blues is a school of music, and fosters a culture of inclusiveness to musicians and non-musicians while playing the great American songbook.
He is joined by bassist Anthony Davis, most recently also of "The Funk Brothers," who has played with Etta James, CCR, Edward Hawkins Singers, and the last six years with The Heavenly Blues.
The band includes legendary Tenor Saxophonist Marvin Yakoweschen, 2013 Blues Sax Player of the year and formally with Dr. Hook among others.
Sheri-Lynn Teeter was recently awarded as the Upcoming Vocalist and Celestial Guitarist by the Black American Blues Historical Society. Her family's musical lineage can be traced back to Vaudeville circa 1930, and she is in her fourth year as female vocalist of The Heavenly Blues.
