Flames I Like Milan Lucic

I’m absolutely sick and tired of reading about James Neal. He was beyond pathetic here. I’m happy for him for finding a better situation, but he never would have done that in Calgary. Milan Lucic adds more to the Flames than James Neal did.

Look, I get it. It’s frustrating to see Neal thrive on our provincial rivals. But in my opinion 19/20 Lucic is better than 18/19 Neal and that is all we can ask for.

I’m sick of dwelling on the fortunes of Edmonton. Let’s look at the positives of that trade for our team. We got rid of a third liner who didn’t fit in here and replaced him with someone who at least adds some physicality. If Lucic scores 5 goals but adds some physicality that is better than the 7 Neal scored while adding nothing else.

I am intoxicated right now. So maybe I’m delusional. But I love Looch. He had given more in 8 games than Neal did all last year for us.

Maybe Neal is in a better spot, and it annoys me too. But let’s be happy about Lucic. He’s a beauty. Go Flames go!!!

Neal will "look" better for the Oilers but the hard to see gain Lucic brings to this team is invaluable, plus playoff time we'll unleash our version of the kraken

I was thinking CP needed this thread. Thanks for creating it

Neal’s final on ice act as a Flame was coasting back while Rantanen scores that OT winner, and his final off ice acts involved popcorn and then a garbage bag, and hopefully a doorknob hitting him in the ass.

Lucic has already net contributed more than 18/19 Neal. That is already done.

Neal is a guy who can’t do anything on his own. He doesn’t set the tone. He is the NHL equivalent of that stupid kid you used to play hockey with who just cherry picked.

Onward and upward. Can’t wait for the early season Peters blender to quiet down and see Lucic contributing with consistent line mates.

* Also can’t wait to see the cold November rain on the greasers. That will be delightful in the E=NG section

Go Looch!

Perhaps Lucic fits better in Calgary than Edmonton, where he was expected to be a top 6 forward?
Perhaps Neal fits better in Edmonton, where he is given top 6 deployment?
I get it, it sucks to see a rival win a trade, but a win-win deal still means we have improved.
Echoing what others have said, Lucic has started well, add this trade will be able to be judged more in April then October

I also like this thread. But how about we post about Lucic and his play and avoid comparisons to Neal, who is irrelevant.

I thought last game was his best. Hard on the forecheck, shooting the puck and getting to the tough areas. Hope he continues to play like that

I was sold when I watched him give more effort in a preseason game than the Fake Deal James Eat Dirt Neal did in a playoff game.

I also enjoy the big hits and the occasional head punching when required.

When Red Wings defencemen are literally bailing on the puck when they realize Lucic is in pursuit -- makes you wonder how this team would look with a big heavy hitter on every forward line. Then again, I enjoyed the Chris Simon and Owen Nolan eras.

I was shaking my head when we made this trade. However, Lucic has done everything right since he arrived in Calgary.

He has won me over.

I would say about 90% of CP users based on the number of Oilers related posts on this site. It is a full-time obsession for a very vocal chunk of the membership to this forum.

Lucic is the type of player this team was missing.

Last year:
Evander Kane was chirping the Flames bench “you guys are small, you are all small, you got nobody”

This year:
Lucic “I’m your huckleberry”

I think on the morning show they said it the best, Lucic adds an element and fits in his role on this team. Neal had no fit on this team and would have been in and out of the lineup and probably out of hockey if that continued.

The report card for this trade will be evaluated in April for the flames, the rest is just noise.
