Lots of brands are now going to this. I think it's due to the soot of DI blackening exhaust tips.

That can’t be any worse looking than seeing a crappy exhaust pipe behind them on a $100k vehicle like the x7. Or make them titanium so it blends in.

Speaking of golfs.

Anyone have a 2019 golf? Test drove one tonight and was quite impressed. Anyone have any thoughts?

While likely not the spec you're looking at, I have an R. Great cars, and if you really like the one you're looking at, I imagine dealers are going to get aggressive at liquidating existing stock, as the MK8's (next generation) start arriving soon.

Yah I took an execuline model out. Really enjoyed the ride. They got some aggressive deals on till the end of the month. The R’s look pretty great but not in the market for another performance car haha.

how many of you guys use wheel nut locks on your vehicles.

I have my summer tires (all seasons) mounted on aftermarket rims with the splined wheels nuts on them.

for my winter tires (the factory aluminum wheels) i was using mcgard nuts but my key broke apart last year - after mulling it over, i just opted to get a another set of splined nuts for my winter rims.

i have to admit i am second guessing my decision a bit for whatever reason i thought that there were different spline combinations, but the splined socket for my summer tires seemed to fit the splined nuts for my winter tires.

It was just discussed starting on this page, below. I think they are worse than useless around here.

I only use wheel locks on big ticket aftermarket wheels but I never use them on factory wheels unless they are maybe a specific wheel that was sought after in the aftermarket. Subaru put them on my wife's Outback which is asinine as nobody is going to steal generic Outback wheels and it creates issues as if she got a flat tire on her own she wouldn't even know where the key tool is. The reality is that if someone really wants your wheels then wheel locks will not prevent them from stealing them. It's more a deterrent for lazy thieves that are looking for the path of least resistance to steal goods.

1970 Dodge Charger crushed & flattened on purpose, lowballers made him do it

Quote:
Usually when you get too many lowball offers selling a high-dollar item, sane people just ignore such people altogether, blocking their contact information. This owner of an uncommon 1970 Dodge Charger B-Body did something entirely different, let anger get the best of him, and got petty revenge on lowballers by letting a wrecking yard crush this piece of American muscle.

What I am getting at, there is no exhaust exit even under/behind those squares. It is purely a pair of trim pieces to make it look like there is exhaust exit there.

The actual exhaust is a single pipe hidden under the rear ala 2001 Era 7 Series BMW. The Bimmer didn’t have some fake peices to trick one into thinking it had a dual exhaust and you couldn’t see the actual tailpipe.

Yes, blackened tips are a foregone conclusion, but at least, on my car, it’s fairly uniform on the quad tips and I’ve got a black trim package so bright tips would stand out anyway.

There are way to many lowballing idiots out there now that you don't have to pick up a phone and actually talk to someone. Selling cars is so flipping annoying these days.

i was surfing youtube last night and came across a doug demauro review of the new mustang - the car looks like a beast - but the pricing for the options:
- $10,000 for stripes to be painted on
- $18,000 for a carbon fiber package that includes carbon fiber rims

$18K for all that carbon fibre, especially the wheels, doesn't seem like a bad deal.

I don't think I could pay $100K USD for that interior though.

That's always been the problem with the GT350R. The wheels are worth a mint, but then you have to drive a Ford. I almost got one but was talked out of it by a member here. They'll eventually drop back into affordable territory, and then it'll be worth considering. The 350Rs are already below the $80k threshold, even some of the sub-5k-km ones.

I do have a soft spot for Mustangs but there's just so many of them, id never buy it brand new. I have considered getting a Shelby when I move on from the Corvette but I just don't know.

That's the point. If there is exhaust flowing there, they will turn black and look like crap.

Mine are super annoying to clean, but I'd rather spend the time cleaning than cheesy fakes.
