If you Aren't already you should be changing filters monthly and Using no higher than a Merv 6 filter .

For those using 4 and 5 inch thick box filters do yourself a favor.

Use a leaf blower, or compressor to blow the filter out MONTHLY so your prolonging the lifespan of those expensive filters .

Electronic air cleaners....pre filters monthly and cells 6 times a year using DAP spray.

HRVs should be cleaned 4 times a year as well.

Lastly . Furnaces attached to dirty ducts do not stay clean. Get them cleaned and have the furnsces inspected cleaned and tuned-up all at the same time by qualified experienced knowledgeable people only .

Any truth to what I heard today at AMRE supply and another retailer about manufactures not making cheap, fiberglass filters going forward? I was specifically told "they don't work" Size is 20X25X1 I have heard from you and other HVAC pro's to use them.

I have a backup MERV 8 filter in now for a few days until I get to a big box retailer and find some new filters. Any risk to a 25 year old furnace for a few days?

I also have a 60+ year old Lennox furnace in another property that I am debating what to do with. Extremely reliable but not very efficient. I don't want to get into new HVAC duct work and other headaches but I am willing to spend money on the home like insulation and windows. Anyway to boost efficiency on an older furnace with some minor tweaks? I am still debating what to do with the home long term.

Both furnaces were cleaned by you within the last 2 years. Thanks!

Currently Canadian tire and Walmart carry MERV 5 and sometimes MERV 2

Canadian tire carrys fiberglass media in a 50 ft roll that can be cut down to size so they'll fit your hammock.

Most
Important ....regardless of what your told is change filters monthy on all furnaces .
If you cannot afford to change them monthly blow them off with a compressor, leaf or snowblower so they can be used easily again.

Once they start changing color then throw them away.

FagnansFurnace// Chestermere Heating now installs carrier mini splits. Central air conditioning has a lifetime warranty however in a move i never thought I'd see.

They're coils can be retrofitted as well into older units making it less cost prohibitive.

They are Albertas Oldest carrier dealer and the most reputable one as well .
