It's crazy that the blues are like 95% Canadian in this day and age. I don't really care who wins, just hope it's a good series. Should've started tomorrow.

Games 5 & 6 skip over Fri and Sat night. Again, weekends are for hockey.
A possible game 7 on June 12th is 3 weeks away from today which is way too long. Boston won Eastern finals on May 16.

They can't just book games whenever they feel like it...schedule has to work for both arenas and their TV partners.

Would like to witness St. Louis obliterate Boston, even if it takes 7 games.

As the main tenant in their respective arenas, most teams dictate when the arena must be available for use.
NBC is showing the senior PGA championship and other assorted garbage. I can’t imagine NBCSN could be showing anything better.
The dates are often predetermined but what’s odd is that the Blues series didn’t end quick. Even with a game 7 there still would’ve been a 4 day break. It’s find it odd they seem to have no alternative dates in case of this type of scenario.

Blues in 6. Anytime a team can win their first Stanley Cup before the Canucks, I'm all for it (with the exception of the Sharks of course)

Caesar’s Palace saying they took a few $100 bets on the Blues when they were 250 to 1 during the season. Could you imagine? You’re a Blues fan on a trip to Vegas and just before you leave you make a bet with your heart. Now you’re watching the finals, the $100 is long gone and if your team wins, you pocket a cool $25k before taxes.
That would be so much fun. Hope they kept their ticket.

"We're actually worse [on the Blues] than what the Knights would have been," Bill Sattler, director of specialty games for Caesars Entertainment, said, adding that a St. Louis victory over the Boston Bruins in the Stanley Cup Final would cost the sportsbook a net loss of "mid-six figures" on their odds to win the Stanley Cup.
There were a few believers willing to stake a few dollars on the Blues at that point, but not many. The SuperBook at Westgate Las Vegas said it took just one bet -- a $20 wager on Dec. 28 -- on the Blues at 300-1. New Jersey sportsbook PointsBet said it didn't take its first bet on St. Louis to win the Stanley Cup until Feb. 20.
The largest bet Caesars took on the Blues at 250-1 was $400, but Sattler said there were several more in the $100 range. With odds in the triple digits, it doesn't take much to build up some hefty liability.
"We had them at 250-to-1 halfway through the season," Sattler, a 40-year-plus Vegas veteran, said. "A few hundred-dollar bets here and there, and it gets up there."

Thats a 100K payout.

I finally just looked at the schedule as I assumed that the series started tonight. WTF NHL. The NHL actually had an opportunity to end the season in late May/early June but instead they decide to potentially run it until mid June. I think that during the next round of contract negotiations the players union should push for a more compact playoff schedule. This is getting ridiculous.
I think that instead of the current standard of 2-2-1-1-1 each round should be 2-3-2 with games 4 & 5 back to back followed by a travel day and 6&7 back to back.

To honest there are other things going on. I find the Raptors and the IIHF more interesting at this stage. Certainly the NHL would have had second billing this weekend even in Canada.

Teams would have nothing left in the later rounds if they made it that compact.
The only practical solution I see is shaving something like 6 to 8 games from the RS and start the playoffs 2 weeks sooner.

IMO, your first statement is 100 % correct.
Your second statement has zero chance as the NHL owners and players ( association) would NEVER resolve the reduced revenue and less salary (less games= less revenue + reduced salaries).
Revenues and salaries are closely correlated.

Pulling for The Blues. But my head says the Bruins win. Let’s see where this one goes.

So what you’re saying is, turn on the 5 point surround sound and disconnect the centre channel?

Could this be the first year that the NBA finals get better TV ratings in Canada than the Stanley Cup finals?
