Odd call. He gets a yellow and then upgraded to red?

Truthfully I don’t think Son could continue anyway because he was distraught. But what a weird sequence that was.

He looked in rough shape. Son seems like a really nice guy, I wouldn't be surprised if he struggles a little but dealing with this mentally.

Hopefully for Gomes there isn't too much ligament damage and he can be back in a couple months. That looked awful.

That should have been a red.

Then there will be about 10-15 reds per game

It's only a red if you consider the result and not the action? It was probably a yellow and maybe even just a foul?

Once again...this is all Aurier's fault...

In all seriousness though, of all of Spurs' players I actually like Son so I do feel really bad for him.

That being said....thats a tough call. He absolutely had to show Red there and everyone knew it.

If theres no injury is it Red? I dont know, but there was already a growing resentment and hostility and if Son doesnt see red there this game was going to get out of hand.

Just bad news all around.

Last defender, player in the clear - automatic red, no?

Why? It's really not a dangerous tackle at all, and it wasn't preventing a goal. It looks like Gomes caught his foot on the turf and while that sucks, and I really do feel bad for him because he's a good player, that's not how decisions should be made. Atkinson had the yellow out and clearly made that decision, saw the resulting gruesome injury and upgraded to a red. That's pathetic.

There's just no way that's a red card. I get that the injury makes people say that it was obviously dangerous, but it's not what happened. It was definitely a foul, maybe a yellow and never a red. I hope that's appealed and overturned because that's the correct decision.

He wasn't the last defender though and definitely not in the clear. After Son made that tackle he crashed in Aurier (which was the harder hit of the two actually).

I think Vlad is talking about the Richarlison Sanchez play towards the end. If Richarlison wasn't flopping around all game the ref might have thought about calling it.

Son should definitely get a yellow on that play. It's from behind and he is nowhere near the ball.

Oh gotcha. I actually thought that was a red also.

If it wasn't for the beautiful pass from Iwobi, Spurs did nothing today and were pathetic. They didn't deserve a point from that effort.

Everton midfielder Andre Gomes is expected to be sidelined until next season after undergoing surgery to repair an ankle injury he sustained during Sunday's 1-1 draw against Tottenham at Goodison Park.

Gomes is done for the season. No surprise really. Hopefully this doesnt derail his career.

Dont think it will, have seen a few former players on twitter say that a dislocation looks horrible in pictures, but it's way better than a break (I.e ramseys) and should make a full return and be back to what he was

Madrid offering bale + 70m for sterling is hilarious

They couldnt move bale for free last year cause of his wages and now they want to add sterling to him?

I thought that it was a dislocation fracture though? That seems like it could have a lot of soft-tissue injury to go along with it?

Hilarious is right.

In what Universe would City even contemplate that? Right now Sterling is the vastly better player, Bale would be hard pressed to make their bench at the moment and City couldnt care less about £70M.

City probably got that email and thought it was a Nigerian Prince scam.

Right, but if hes being shut down until next season he has the better part of a year to heal.

Sterling might be the most valuable player in the world not named Mbappe, and Bale is an anchor of a contract. If Bale is involed it should start at £270M, not £70M.
