We'll be heading to Kalispell the day they open the border. Have a year's worth of stuff at our PO box that needs picking up.

I would love to travel by spring but I doubt things will be conducive to travel at that time...so maybe by fall. In that case I'll look at Japan, Thailand or maybe Croatia. Not really sure but I have some travel to make up for the trips I had to postpone this year.

Looks like the government is making any travel outside of Canada more difficult in the immediate with the new proposed requirement for a negative test within three days of arrival into Canada. I think the government is supposed to have more details about the new requirement tomorrow. I wonder if the testing program at YYC will continue and if it will satisfy the new requirements or if a previous test will still be required.

We are talking about taking our kids and their grandparents to Hawaii for Christmas. The four of us actually enjoyed this Christmas isolating at home. For next year, I've promised that we are going away for the holidays if possible,

Good luck. I'm staying far away from cruise ships.

I don’t travel a ton but I’d like to get back to Montreal. Maybe finally hit up Europe. Basically anything where I see people again.

All the cities were amazing.

Great suggestions, thanks!

Nothing for 2021 except to the family cabin in BC. Keep saving and will set up a couple big ones in 2022 hopefully. Europe in Feb/March and then New Zealand in the fall. But it's all a long way away so we'll see how things go.

Going to continue to explore this big and wonderful country we are lucky to live in. I travel back roads and photograph abandoned things - farms, churches, schools, homesteads....so I'll expand that out. This year I ventured to Northern Alberta (not much up there) and further into Sask. My goal for 2021 is to tackle Manitoba.
Lots of wonderful things in Canada. No need to go further than that for 2021.

Anything further on this?
I'm wondering if/when the 14 day quarantine could be reduced based on vaccine rollout and testing upon return from travel.

No problem!
If you are not planning to rent a car, rent a taxi for a half-day / day and take a tour of the surrounding sights:
Tule tree
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%81rbol_del_Tule
Hierve el Agua "Waterfall" rock formations and springs
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hierve_el_Agua
There is other interesting sites as well and of course the arbitrary stop at a Mescal Factory, which was actually quite fun.

You can also take a day trip from either Oaxaca or Puebla to visit the Tehuacán-Cuicatlán Biosphere Reserve, a UNESCO site now. There are walking trails and towers you can climb to see the scope of the reserve.
I was not there during their rainy season but my guide showed me what it would look like. He merely put water on various species of cacti and they changed into a kaleidoscope of color.

Guys, great suggestions again. Only problem is she’s changed her mind and wants to go to Europe now. It’s her turn to pick so whatever but now I’m really into going to Mexico.

Unless somebody is interested in renting some DVC points this year, probably gonna bank them this year and head off in 2022 to a Cabin @ Copper Creek (Disneyworld). That or maybe do a double holiday Aulani in Feb, then Disneyworld in July/August for the same banked points

I want to rent a cabin on a lake exactly like this. And do exactly what this guy is doing. Maybe even fish a little.
Any suggestions?
I’m open to driving 6-8 hours if need be.

Just hop on VRBO and look around BC. Christina Lake is pretty good. If the border is open for driving Flathead Lake in Montana is great and if you fly fish (I don't) it is supposed to be exceptional down there.

Blaine Lake is very nice too, about 1 hour from Flathead Lake...lots of cabins to rent on it too. It is more secluded and more in the mountains a bit.
