More medical and sanitation supplies like hand sanitizers are on their way with special approval from Health Canada
What was The previous bottleneck?
Lack of Bilingualism on the product’s labeling and packaging...
https://nationalpost.com/health/heal...ts-swabs-masks
Quote:
OTTAWA — Health Canada is waiving some of its usual regulatory requirements to increase supplies of hand sanitizers, disinfectants, swabs and personal protective equipment such as masks and gowns used to help contain the spread of COVID-19.
Due to “unprecedented demand” for such products, Health Canada says it will temporarily allow them to be sold in this country even if they don’t meet the normal regulatory requirements.
The temporary waiver will apply to products that are already authorized for sale in Canada but aren’t fully compliant with Health Canada regulations on things such as bilingual labelling or the type of packaging to be used.

Not sure how many this applies to here, maybe friends and family, but part of the relief sees the RRIF minimums drop by 25% this year.
Not part of the relief, but a potential strategy to consider is taking the mandatory amount sooner and putting it into a TFSA (assuming you have room!). If there's a second half recovery, it's sheltered and if there isn't you sold your allotment for the year higher than you otherwise would. Of course, YMMV and do your own due diligence.

UT Health system is very reputable and world renowned. Although this story is specific to Houston, they modeled growth of the virus across 150 countries, as well as the state and metro region level.

I really wish I could see updates of these models as new data emerges every day.

While the source (Medium) isn't always the greatest, this is a really interesting look at the problems with some of the armchair modeling we've seen related to Covid, and how difficult any sort of epidemic modeling is. I thought it was a great read. Less stat types people may not agree
Quote:
A particularly afflicted demographics has been my own, that of Physicists, resulting in the rise of a small cottage industry of blog posts, LinkedIn publications and even arXiv papers with their best attempts at modeling the spread of the disease, with little or no understanding of dynamics underlying epidemic spreading. Once again, the immortal words of Simon DeDeo have been proven true:
The 10 scariest words in the social sciences: "I'm from the physics department and I'm here to help."

Experts believe nearly one in three infected patients are nevertheless getting negative test results

Last week, a 16-month-old boy in Florida tested positive for the new coronavirus, a lab report shows. A few days later, he tested negative at a second lab.
The chief medical officer at the practice where the tests were ordered is betting that the positive result is the right one.

I don't think i seen this site posted yet. But it tracks covid19 cases, testing, and recoveries by province. Also has cases by health region.
