Wild trade Torey Krug and Carl Soderberg for:
Brett Connolly
Adam Larsson
Scott Laughton
This is a case where I'm trying to sell high and buy low. Krug is coming off a fantastic rookie campaign and after a long wait Carl "The Yeti" Soderberg finally came over and produced well. I have literally hung on to this guy for damn near a decade waiting for it to pay off.
I think both will continue to be solid players but I swap out younger guys with bigger upside. Larsson in particular is a guy who's value has really slumped. I've had success in this type of approach in the past getting prospects who's value has dropped and then reaping the rewards of them rebounding - but it has also burned me in the past (e.g. Filatov).
We'll see how this one plays out.
Laughton offers a bit of a safety net - he's a good prospect who will play for sure, and an original Wild draftee.

^^^ like that deal for minny, a lot. Krug is a nice piece but as mentioned its great timing to sell him. Typical now for later deal though, Risk all on Minnys side.

I agree, in 2 years this could be a steal for Minny, but I am hoping Krug gets a nice re-rate and adds some offense to my young D-core. Sodderberg will get a 3 year RFA deal and hopefully keeps up his after his great rookieish campaign. (not sure if you can call a 27 year old a rookie)
Larsson will make or brake this deal IMO.

We traded Marleau after the conclusion of the 2013-14 season because we needed to clear up cap space. We now have lots which allowed us to reacquire Marleau to once again give us a top line guy.
