I think you are dumb to go out into the world until the second test comes in but that’s just me.

I was personally surprised about the 2 day rule given what we know about the virus and itís long incubation time.

It's an anecdote, so we should reserve judgment to see if it becomes a trend.

But this is pretty much what anyone who has the most modest understanding of infectious diseases and the general publics limited understand of the topic would have expected. Its something I've already had a challenging time trying to explain to my parents, they aren't really in the clear until they have consecutive negatives several days apart.

Also possible that she was exposed upon arrival in Calgary and therefore the second test was positive.

The reality is, of course, a person can slip through the holes in the testing protocol. Based on data I’ve read, more than 99% of people coming off of flights are Covid free. The first test catches around 70 percent of the remainder, with the second test catching most of the rest.

That means that there is a sub 0.3% chance of a positive case roaming around in society between the 1st and 2nd test.

Ultimately it comes down to if that risk is worth the value of opening up borders, travel, and tourism. As we see from posters on this board, as well as governments around the world, there will be different opinions on that.

Jurisdictions like the Atlantic provinces aim for zero risk and zero cases. Most places are willing to accept a low level of cases to enable more economic health.

Is it reasonable to make any conclusion on the effectiveness of the pilot based on a story of one anonymous facebook group user?

Not to mention there are a bunch of Facebook crazies out there that would post these things. Even if false. I had multiple angry keyboard warriors sending me messages for just participating in the pilot program.

Not saying the program is perfect or a fit for everyone but if people are responsible and follow the rules itís a great alternative.
