Personal favorites from the 90s would include Happy Gilmore and Tommy Boy.

2000s: hands down, Anchorman. Try and name a more quotable movie from that decade.

00s: Bad Santa. HM to Borat and Super Troopers though. (Superbad is terrible)
10s: my highest rated “comedy” is deadpool. Weak decade.
2010's: a French film called The Intouchables - absolutely hilarious.

But yes, comedy has been weak recently

People keep bugging me to watch it. I think it’s on Netflix. I liked the remake with Kevin Hart and Brian Cranston.

I felt dirty leaving Mel Brooks off the list. Saddles, Space Balls, and Men in Tights are likely top 3 70s, 80s, and 90s.

Do we count Parasite as a comedy? It's one of the best of the 2010s.

Letterboxd did but I didn’t. Also didn’t include Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, which was much funnier than Paradite but still not a comedy IMO.

The Party. What a great film, remember watching it at midnight at the Plaza a time or two.

Holy Grail for the 70’s.
Airplane 80’s although Caddyshack, Fletch, Naked Gun deserve mention.
90’s maybe Groundhog Day, Big Lebowski

It started to get really hard pre-1960. Chaplin saved me, as I haven't watched a lot of 10s through 40s comedy. Planes, Trains was taken in the 80s, which might be one of my favorite movies, in any genre. I think that Young Frankenstein wasn't a repeat.

10s The Immigrant
20s Sherlock Jr.
30s Bringing up Baby
40s The Great Dictator
50s Mon Oncle
60s My Fair Lady
70s Young Frankenstein
80s Blues Brothers
90s Bowfinger
00s Life Aquatic with Steve Zizzou
10s The Other Guys

The Other Guys isn't a bad choice for the 2010s.

I thought having a film from the 60s was showing off as a cinephile and then here you go all the way back to 1917!

Comedy? Geez.

Remember how the toilet was situated in the basement suite? Those were real. I remember sitting on ones like that when I was a child in Seoul. Made me scared of toilets for years.

I don’t like any other film of his but if it counts as a comedy I’d vote for The Grand Budapest Hotel in the 2010s. So fantastic.
