As a Canes fan this is too bad. He has achieved the most mediocre of results since he went back to being coach/GM of the Rebels 9 years ago. If he wasn't the owner/GM he probably would have been canned several years ago.

Well...I dont follow Junior Hockey all that closely but being 'President/General Manager/Head Coach' seems like a lot.

Losing one of three responsibilities seems perfectly reasonable.

He's definitely lost his touch. What struck me most from reading the article is that the team, all teenage boys, are living together in the hockey arena they play in. Doesn't this seem a little exploitive?

I have noting to add other than I have met him a few times while working at games with the Red Deer Titans.

I always found him to be super friendly and once when I took my son down under the stands we saw him and he had a great chat with my boy.

The Memorial Cup has been cancelled this year. Why would the WHL even go ahead with a shortened season? What's the point? Surely it would be a lot safer to just not play hockey? Having unpaid teenagers living in a hockey arena just seems very odd to me.

The NHL draft, and player exposure to NHL teams.

Why is the NHL playing? Would be safer not to....right?

Hockey at any level that charges to be watched is a business...period.

Business cannot exist without revenue....so they are doing what they can. Cant sell PPV if you arent playing.

This is no different than anything else that has tried to find ways o work in an unprecedented situation.

Playing all being in a bubble has proven successful all over sports so this was actually the safest way for the Rebels to be a part of it.
