Instead of watching playoff hockey Flames fans get to debate what David Poile thought of James Neal two years ago. Le sigh

Ironically it's James Neal's fault. (only partially sarcastic)

I suggest Brad get on the phone and start telling Seattle to lay off of Neal and then leave him unprotected.

Losing a middle six 29 y.o. player with 1 year until UFA status is a pretty good result for any team in expansion. It would have been insane for Poile to protect Neal. In hindsight, it would have also been insane to make a further deal to protect him (because that worked out so well for Florida, etc.). I don't remember if you were allowed to re-acquire the player you lost around the deadline or not, but those assets would be better spent on a deadline acquisition.

Seattle better leave the real deal alone. Flames fans would be heartbroken if they got their filthy paws on the real deal.

If we keep Brodie, I expect Stone is moved for a mid pick or perhaps to get a backup goalie to a team where he would be an everyday player.

I think the Yelesin signing was to help the AHL team with all of our recent graduations, but perhaps I'm wrong and he was enticed to sign here by indication he'd be up with the NHL team.

As for bringing Smith back, it's not a terrible idea for continuity if he is back at a reasonable salary and is satisfied being Rittich's backup and mentor. I personally would see what else is out there and see Smith being back as a good plan B.
LMAO... how about we look at getting a whopping 2 wins in the playoffs???

Even that will be tough with this group of mental midgets
