Zach Barr and his friend and co-worker Josh McNeil are the pair who never thought they’d be able to turn a simple $10 bet into $10,000.
“I wanted to bet a little bit of money on some of the first games,” said Barr. “(McNeil) decided to make a couple picks of who he thought would win.
“We thought it was over a two or three day period. He had Tampa Bay to lose… and a couple of other teams.”
But when they went back to see how their ticket fared, the pair was surprised when it said it was still active thinking their bets were already completed.
It was then they realized that they had actually bet that $10 on the first round matchups as a whole, rather than just those first few games.
“It definitely wasn’t intentional,” said Barr. “As soon as Tampa Bay was out in four (games), the bet was still in the slip.”
