That'd be nice but I doubt he signs with a team that already has its 3 starting OFs set. He's looking for a full time gig to bounce back

Another option would be Joc Pedersen to be 4th OF/DH. We need another lefty bat somewhere if not a starter than at least off the bench.

Yup the one thing they need to add is some power from the left side.
Pretty good lookin roster on paper though.
Hope Ryu can find his touch from 2 years ago.

Hoglund is going to be a good player in the majors, honestly a bit sad to see him gone as I think he will end up better than Nate Pearson, but that's just me.
I like the trade. Chapman instantly makes our infield defense better, and he has some pop in his bat, probably add a few more HRs being at the Skydome. Not that crazy about him piling up 200 Ks last year. Also a right handed hitter.
Need that lefty bat.

A switch hitting 2B with power? Yeah, that would be nice lol.
Thing is, the Jays might as well go for it now. They have a great team and they're not stockpiling picks and prospects anymore. As long as you don't gut your team you might as well do whatever you can to win it all over the next couple/few years.

Yeah. they don't really need to trade him so might as well ask for the moon.

Will be interesting to see Chapmans slash line this year going from the most unfriendly hitters park in Oakland to playing in a division where over 60% of his games are in hitter friendly parks.
It would be over 60% had Baltimore not moved the RF wall back 30' and raised the wall 5 feet this season.

I don't remember perfectly but I don't believe Donaldson was coming off of a bad year at the plate thou... Smith is blocked and the other two are basically mid-relief arms so the only part going back that kind of hurts is Hoglund. Geez that's too high a price for Ramirez...
Need to get a lefty bat. Which means we probably need to trade Gurriel.

Yep, I believe in this as well. Obviously the all in point is subjective on any team and any sport, but I do feel fans tend to get really cold feet about the idea of giving up a lot to be a powerhouse and really go for it.
Fans instead tend to push for slowly moving along over a bunch of years, with the hope that there will be a perfectly laid out year or two where you're a contender and you push in. It rarely happens that way. Everything could look to be pointing to a bright future with a better push in date, only to see a couple of stars falter and suddenly you're further back then than you are today.
You never know, and if the team looks to be contending now, I'm always a firm believer of "push in now without completely gutting the farm, because you don't know when we'll be in this position again".

Wow, what a day to sleep in.
Quick thoughts-
While missing out on Freeman and Schwarber is a small letdown, this is arguably the smarter decision anyhow. Hogland the only important piece going back and we are contending right now, so that doesn’t bother me.
Chapman fills glaring need (as the stat above proves) and Ryu gives up a ton of balls to 3B.
Another power bat to the lineup (don’t like the K’s but I can see past that).
This allows Vlad to stay at 1B and not mess with what he’s got going on.
Gives them flexibility to make another huge move as money and prospect capital are still there.
I’d grade this a B+ with potential to turn in to an A+

Those 63 defensive runs saved are first in baseball over the last three years. The offense on this team is already elite and Chapman will help that, but the defense is suspect and he will greatly help in the area

If that’s the ask, Jays have to walk away.
Ramirez is a hell of a player. Elite.
But both Manoah and Moreno are going to also be elite.
