Not Jays related but a crazy story about Ned Yost of the Royals.

Quote:
Kansas City Royals manager Ned Yost said he nearly died a week ago when he fell from a tree and shattered his pelvis.

"After the surgery, the trauma doctor came in and ... said, 'Look, you guys don't know how lucky you are,'" Yost said in a conference call on Monday. 'We've seen these things before -- this is a 25-30 percent mortality rate. You were crashing on the table. We couldn't get the bleeding stopped. I thought we were going to lose you.'"

"Once I got to the hospital, they got me on the table, and all of a sudden I felt a shot -- the doctor had drilled a hole through my leg and through my bone and inserted a rod into it," Yost said. "Then he put two 10-pound weights on each side of the rod for traction. Then they picked me up and put me in these compression pants -- it was so painful, I can't even tell you.

"I kept asking, 'What are you doing?' The trauma surgeon said, 'We got to do this to save your life.' I'm like, 'Save my life? What are you talking about?' What I didn't notice was that they kept giving me units of blood. They gave me seven or eight units of blood. They said, 'Look, your pelvis is full of blood vessels and arteries, and when you shatter it like you did, you have a lot of bleeding in there. We have to get it stopped.'"

Can we trade Tulo to them for one/more of their young pieces?
Trading Tulo for Dansby Swanson would be an asinine move. I'll leave at that. LOL

@bnicholsonsmith: #BlueJays have some roster decisions between now & Monday, when Rule 5-eligible players must be protected http://www.sportsnet.ca/baseball/mlb...gible-players/

@ShiDavidi: #BlueJays minor-leaguers SS Hugo Cardona, INF Yhon Perez, C Leonicio Ventura each suspended 72 games after testing positive for Boldenone

@ShiDavidi: All three were on rookie level Dominican Summer League roster. Ban takes effect at start of next DSL season

Hard to argue that there's not something systemic when three guys were busted for the same thing. Buddies or not, it's probably more common then we think.

@ShiDavidi: #BlueJays clear two more spots on 40-man roster by outrighting OF Harold Ramirez and RHP Chris Rowley off roster.

@Wilnerness590: #Bluejays add an exciting young athletic player in Gift Ngoepe. Versatile speedster was the talk of #Pirates camp last spring. #Jays get a free look.

I don't follow the prospects too closely, but what happened to Pentecost? I thought he was very highly touted not too long ago?

He's been hurt as much as he's played. The Jays know that nobody is going to pick a guy like him in the Rule 5 draft and have to keep him in the majors all year so it's a calculated, but safe move.

Atlanta gets their punishment. Lose 13 prospects, they become free agents. Restrictions on new signings til 2021. Former GM banned for life from MLB. Scout banned for a year. Forfeit a 2018 draft pick.

That's a pretty harsh penalty. Like twice as harsh as I thought it'd be.

Jays should make a pitch for Ji Hwan Bae. Braves got him for 300K so he likely wouldn't break the bank and you can't have to many MILB shortstop options

@Wilnerness590: Three more #Bluejays minor-leaguers have been suspended for using Boldenone. RHP Juan Jimenez and LHP Naswell Paulino of the DSL #Jays get 72 games each; RHP Jol Concepcion of the GCL team gets 60 games.

Not just Blue Jay related but Rogers Sportsnet has fired Greg Zaun for inappropriate behaviour. No details yet.

Thats unfortunate. I enjoyed his tell it like it is persona. Kind of a Don Cherry type of shtick.

Not condoning what he might have done, but its disappointing from a selfish fan perspective.
