Yup, better enjoy it, we are going to start paying it back soon! Long term forecast looks to have some -10' and snow. Winter is coming.

I just keep trying to ride when that happens and personally I hope the owner has to spend some extra time corralling their dog.
I also hate those owners who use those long retractable leashes on the path, could be a dangerous situation if the dog were to cut in front of a rider

I had to stop, there were 4 big ones and I couldn't see them all as it was really dark. Very close to taking me out all together, they were really rowdy. The guy is a moron for having them off leash that early, there are coyotes everywhere.

I saw some cycle trainer chatter earlier. I'm selling a Tacx Speedmatic Cycletrainer T1810 if anyone is interested.

My rain pants didn't work so well on the way to work today. I think I need to replace them. These ones were made by Axiom, and I'm not sure they still make pants anymore. They lasted at least 7-8 years in Vancouver, so they had a good run.
I searched and found a company called Showers Pass. They have a really well reviewed High Visability pant ( https://showerspass.ca/collections/m...nt=47062462788) but I don't really feel like spending $192 on them. Has anyone heard of them and have any reviews?

^ from what I have read showerspass has a pretty good reputation, but as you note their stuff is not cheap.
MEC offers up three choices on rain pants - $70, $180 and $240 - my guess is that anything really waterproof and somewhat breatheable will be at least $200

ALL ABOARD!

I downloaded the WindFinder app for my phone. It's ugly but has better data than the regular weather app. Knowing the approximate wind speed and direction for the commute home helps me pick my route (sheltered by trees but slower or unprotected but fast).
Looks like a ridiculous North wind for the ride home today.

Everyone be careful out there. That wind is dangerous.
That said, it was also the best tailwind I've ever had. 14 PRs and 3 top 10s ever on my extended 31km commute home.

That was GD miserable! I dressed for a nice warm fall morning, not so much for a rainy head wind in the afternoon.

The MAMIL documentary I spoke about a month back is premiering on November 30th at Eau Claire. Should be good for some laughs and re-enforcing some of the reasons we ride. I'm going if anyone wants to meet up for pre-show beers.
They need to sell enough tickets for a showing in Calgary. Trailer is in the link.

frustrating ride to work this morning as first i almost get run over by a driver leaving the esso/tim hortons in lake Mackenzie (I have lots of lights on the front and back of my bike), then a deer loitering around the foot of the ivor strong bridge runs across the path about 15 feet in front of me, i then come across about 3 pedestrians in bad spots wearing dark clothing with no lights and then i am getting close to work on Fairmont drive and i come across a motorist that passes me and then hugs the curb, and then two minutes later i get a guy pass me and then make a right turn in front of me......
todays adventures seemed to make up for all of the rides where nothing of interest happened.
hopefully the wind is not howling on the way home this afternoon

Passed 4000km for the year on the ride home yesterday, another great day of weather today so get out there and enjoy it before the winter bike comes out mid next week.

excited to ride the fatty, but sad to acknowledge that summer is really over

It just becomes the new normal, worth. If you let wind/weather dictate your riding in Cgy, you'll never leave the basement.
