20-40-60 points this year is very doable, If he even improves a little next year Tre will have a hard time getting his name signed for under the team max.

Some love for the guy who didn't play tonight.
After 27 games played (and two missed) he's on pace for pretty much what he put up last season: 12g 39a 51pts. A little disappointing he hasn't made a great leap this season? Fear not. He's currently 4th in the league in SAT%(close) at 60.12. From the start of his career he's - as far as it's measured by this stat - the 8th best defensive forward in the NHL with a 55.61.
He's also turning 20 on December 11th. 19 years old, one of the best puck-posession players in the league, and has already put up 17g 48a 65pts for his career. To compare, here's the production of some of his contemporaries in the SAT% Close stat before their 20th birthdays.
Niederreiter - 2g 1a
Teravainen - 0g 0a
Bergeron - 16g 23a
Barkov - 24g 36a
Johansen - 9g 12a
Toffoli - no games
Marchand - no games
Gallagher - no games
Frolik - no games
Backes - no games
Pearson - no games
Kid is a monster hockey player.

So you're saying he's almost as good as Barkov?
Yes please. I'll take that all day.

Love how he plays the game and his skillset/style of play is primed for even more potential. He uses his strength and body positioning so well with his soft hands and high hickey IQ... and he still has lots of room to get stronger.
Plus he has shown to be very effective despite his poor skating. That leaves another potential area for him to improve his game. I doubt he’ll ever be a fast skater but if he could get his speed up to even an average NHL level, he’ll be even more effective than he is now.
But even if he doesn’t... if he remains the exact player he is now without any improvement in his game/physical ability... he’s still a steal of a pick and a big-time player to have on this team.

I remember hearing some thought he had the best hockey sense coming out of the draft. When you see how well he protects the puck, makes beauty passes and never seems to make a wrong play it doesn't seem too far fetched.

Tkachuk plays such a strong and heavy game for a player who started the season as a teenager. Once the man strength kicks, he's going to be down right unstoppable down low. Any increase in foot speed as well will only make this kid even better.

He has my vote for taking over the captaincy once Gio is gone.

30 is not out of the question the way he's been playing lately. No slight to Monahan at all but I think Tkachuk is our second best forward behind Gaudreau.

When gio moves on it should be:
Monahan C (calm and collected)
Tkachuk A (beating heart of the team)
Hamonic A (community booster/ stand up guy)
Imo!

Gio is here for 4 more seasons after this one. Hard to predict what the team will look like at that time. Backlund should probably get a letter if he's still on the team.

It will be interesting to see how it shakes down.
We know Treliving doesn't cave in when it comes to negotiations with young star RFA's and we also know that as it currently stands Sean Monahan put up better numbers playing a harder position then Chucky so far.
So I would think that unless Tkachuk blows up with a point per game season next year, he's going to be hard pressed to best the contract Monahan got.
$44,625,000 over 7 years ($6,375,000 AAV)

20-19--39 with 26 games left.
Obviously a 40 pt winger, which is great news already. But 50-60 points definitely achievable - and points aren't his only valuable asset!
This kid is incredible.

Shouldn't we be thanking the Blue Jackets? If they followed everyone's consensus they would have taken Puljujarvi, leaving the Oilers to take Tkachuk. Thank you brand new Finnish GM and Dubois!

Will be interesting to see where Keith sits on all of this, as I'm sure Matt looks to him quite a bit. We see agents pushing kids to focus on $, but I could see someone like Keith re-directing his focus on winning and the team. Wonder if that winning team is Calgary in Keith's eyes.

I had heard rumours the Oilers were pretty dead set on going defense at #4, and they were going to take Sergachev. That only changed when one of the consensus top 3 fell to them.
Had things gone to script and Columbus drafted Puljujarvi, Tkachuk, Dubois and Juolevi are all on the board - with Dubois available, Montreal trades PK Subban to Vancouver for the 5th overall pick and gets their French centre, and we still get Tkachuk.

He's a funny player. If you had never seen him play before and watched his skate you'd question if he was even an NHL caliber player.
Damn his skating is not very good but holy hell is everything else about his game ELITE!

I don’t really see why Monahan should be this team’s captain. He’s pretty subdued, I don’t really see him as a leader... great player obviously.
