It's crazy that a 19 year old Canadian kid, who was played mostly as a striker in the MLS, is now playing as a LWB for Bayern Munich and is dominating at that position.

At 19! After only really playing that position for a short period of time. Honestly some of his runs, and his play remind me of young Gareth Bale when he was about the same age starting off at Tottenham.

This isn't getting talked about nearly enough in Canadian sports media.

Yeah that looked insanely Bale-esque.

Haaland is off to Dortmund. Smartest choice career wise for him.

Barcelona have fired Ernesto Valverde and appointed Quique Setien as his replacement. There were a lot of rumours that Xavi would take over, but it seems he rejected them at this point. Expect him to take over at some point in the future though.

It's kind of amazing what got Valverde sacked wasn't the two mega chokes in the CL, but losing a secondary cup match in Saudi Arabia.

It was likely a 'body of work' thing.

That being said, smart move by Xavi. Let someone else clean up the mess of an aging group and swoop in later.

Oh no doubt, but had they won that Cup he'd still be employed right now. Fine lines and all that.

Haaland with a hat trick in 20 minutes in his debut. Gonna be worth eleventy billion by the time Dortmund sell him.

Both Basque teams knocked out the Spanish heavyweights in Copa del Rey today.

Sociedad over Real (Odegaard scored), and Bilbao over Barcelona.

Just awesome.

The Champions' League is back!

Liverpool vs. Atletico
Dortmund vs. PSG

No idea what to expect today, this ain't your grandpappy's Atletico but they're still a dangerous team especially at home and Liverpool are operating under little rest after a grinding win against Norwich.

Dortmund/PSG should be good, neither team is particularly adept at defending but have excellent attacking options, that one could be a shootout.

Must be weird for City to ride out this champions league knowing they are banned for the next two.

Atletico can settle in for 180 mins of defending now.

The team that transfers for Haaland next might need to give him an equity stake.

Well. That was not ideal. That was ugly.

That was a masterclass in defending/parking the bus, although Liverpool were not sharp at all today.

Frustrating match to watch for sure.

I didn't see Atalanta going up 4-1 coming at all.

They haven't been on that type of form this season.
