Forgot to reply again to this last night, but just wanted to let you know, looks like you were right. I was looking at more photos and found one where you can see in the distance an overpass over Macleod in 1988. So I guess it is an old overpass. I must have been thinking of the addition of lights on the west side of the overpass or something.
Here's the picture:

Must be something messed up with Alberta 511. They've listed the road as closed and reopened again in the last hour!

Pretty bad when the fake account gave more "updates" than from real sources.

Can we move the poll into a new thread solely for discussions on the SW portion of the ring road?

Got a text an hour-ish ago from a friend who has been relatively reliable thus far. I pried and pried but all he knew was that Friday is "very possible". Didn't even want to put a percentage on it. He works for a subcontractor involved in the project. Friday was the newly announced "best case" assuming weather cooperation, so it's nothing revolutionary yet.

I don't think the CPS wants this to open yet with the cash cow the multitude of terribly marked construction zones must be.

I suppose this could also be a gear grinder but the new lights on 22x are terrible for traffic in every direction.

I don't even care. Stoney with cones is better than the daily nightmare on Deerfoot, 52 St, 100 St.

I often explore the construction area and have not once seen CPS trapping down there.

I assume you're talking about the new lights on the bridge over Macleod. They haven't been timed yet.

I think you are too busy taking pictures of all the construction.
Seriously, driving this regularily I do see police there. Not any more often than before on old 22X, but they are still there.

I have seen them a ton on EB and WB 22x near Cranston and hanging out on either side of the bridge over the bow.

Probably won't be done until the permanent fixtures are up and the loop/video detectors are hooked up to the controller.
I have no idea why Macleod/22X is taking so long.

Well Macleod/22x was supposed to be completed by the first week of October, and obviously the same for the SE portion of the ring road. Anyone else thinking that getting the SW portion completed and having traffic flowing within 7 years is probably a recipe for disaster in that agreement?

Sounds like construction completion may not be the only thing that is not on time:
Quote:
What they thought was an ideal job has turned sour for a group of asphalt haulers working on the southeast ring road who say they haven’t been paid in months and are owed thousands of dollars.
To make matters worse, some of the asphalt haulers claim they have been fired for inquiring about unpaid invoices.
“The situation that we have been put into is a complete nightmare. How are we supposed to pay our bills?” said asphalt hauler Will Hollier.
Hollier operates a tractor trailer end dump for his father-in-law Steve Cross, owner of S. Cross Holdings. Cross said he is owed more than $90,000 for his company’s work on the project.
