Looks like they'll be good to open for Tuesday, the only thing left to see is what the speed limits will be (possibly 80 for the whole thing while crews are still around) and how quickly CPS will setup their traps. This road will be extremely tempting to speed on... 6-8 lanes wide in parts, and not much traffic.

It's mindblowing how many photo radars are set up on Anthony Henday Drive in Edmonton. I expect we will see the same in Calgary...

i travel Stoney at least 3 times per week and i have never seen photo radar on that road yet - between 17th Ave SE and 16 Ave NW. I have seen cops doing radar.

They set up shop on the overpasses over Henday, sometimes at multiple locations at the same time. It's almost comical.
I set my cruise to 110, because it's just too damn easy to speed on these highways.

I hadn't seen it till this Monday either. Westbound Stoney right after Deerfoot. Easy enough to spot. Whenever I'm on the NW part it's far too busy to get up to any serious speed, and now half the thing is a construction zone anyway.

So 22X got a $770 million makeover... of the 8 lane variety.
(The entire SE leg is $770M, not just the 22X part)

Sun Valley/Chaparral interchange is fully open tonight, and to go east on 22X from northbound Deerfoot you now need to come all the way up to McKenzie Lake/Towne Blvd and turn around, go south, then go around the new loop. Have fun with that one.

Should be soon. McIver said they wanted it done at the same time as Stoney, which is Tuesday. A few more weeks, maybe.

What exactly are they doing at the Macleod and 22x bridge right now anyway? Looks to me like they built a barrier and paved it. Was that really necessary considering that whole area is going to get it's own Deerfoot/22x-esque make over in a couple years anyway?

Temporary. Presumably so they can finish the new 2 lane ramp that will go under that new bridge along side Auburn Bay, and the new 3 lane ramp coming out of Auburn Bay.

They're cramming 2 lanes each way onto the existing bridge by narrowing the median and removing shoulders. Cost is only $4M, so it's a solid interim solution because the makeover could be a couple years away as you say, or it could be 15 years away.

They are widening the bridge over MacLeod to 2 lanes each way. So 3 lanes of WB traffic can just go down to 2 lanes; instead of down to 1.
Even if TTN agrees to the Province's deal, you'd still be 2 years at the earliest from haveing MacLeod done.

Wow I thought thats what they were doing at first but it seems like it's going to be a little tight? Can't wait for the moms going 40 in that stretch.

It'll be interesting to see how they fit the lanes in. And I was also amused to see them custom paving the centre barriers rather than just dropping pre-cast barriers. It looks a little nicer though.

I am really liking what I'm seeing in terms of low cost/no cost fixes. Lake Fraser Gate is another great example of some creative thinking/planning.

It seems weird to me that no one thought of doing this before. It seems like such a cheap and easy temporary fix.

I suppose that's how McIver could say things like Macleod/22X being an "innovate" idea...they weren't willing to sacrifice design standards in the past, but to save some big bucks they'll do it in the interim?
