[OFFICIAL]: NYI, NJ swap D-men
Sources within the Islanders' front office are indicating that, on the heels of their massive Francouz extension, New York is preparing to make a deal with New Jersey official.

Apparently negotiations between these two clubs have been progressing on this deal for months.
Working to confirm.

We didn't want to be under the cap for too long. This deal puts us $2 million over the cap but it sets us up nicely with a dominant top-six, top pairing, and goaltending tandem.
Put simply, the Islanders are the team to beat.

Sadly these are also the only positions they have filled on their roster, and they're not nearly that dominant.

It's true, the Islanders are a team that is going to get beat a lot next season.

Pierre Edouard Bellemare can do the bottom six heavy lifting all by himself thank you very much!

Again he was on the block a few times for a month, only got two messages.
Not many people lining up to take a 3 year 9.0 contract I guess.

Pettersson is a stud. NJ got a good 'un there.

For sure, it is a massive risk for a guy his age. I am just surprised all it took was a #6 d-man

Pettersson was playing 20 minutes a night in Pitt this year as a 24-year-old... IMO he's closer to Rasmus Andersson than he is to Oliver Kylington.

Disagree with the fact he is a #6, I'd say he is a solid 2nd pair guy. We shall see I guess.

I am just looking at TOI and he was Pittsburghs #6 d-man based on that.

With Schultz set to leave in UFA the Penguins will likely be running this next year:
Dumoulin - Letang
Pettersson - Marino
Johnson - Riikola
Ruhwedel
