Yeah, the producers are aiming for seven episodes for Season 7, and six episodes for Season 8, which would be the final season. Nothing's finalized, last I read.
Is that a lot? I know it is big compared to other TV shows, but its only $120 million in the end. Big budget movies like the latest Avengers cost almost $300 million to make, and that was for a 2 hour film.
The article also suggests that they made a profit by selling it to networks across the world before a single episode was aired.
And that was before it got so popular.
It sounds like a lot, but in reality it isn't much considering the end cost, and how much airtime they are getting.
In the end it will be approximately 80 hours of film, 96 episodes, and if each episode would average out to $10 million cost, it would cost them less than a billion dollars to make. Nobody is sure what they are making per season, but given that there were over 1 million illegal downloads of the episode 1 of season 6 in hours after it was aired, it has to be a lot.
Of course, if there was a way to turn those 1 million downloads into a revenue source....
Dany's no Drogo with the speeches (him and Stannis still have the best ones) but the scene was fine, other than I wish that the other two dragons would have appeared behind her when she started talking about her bloodriders. what happened to them? they were unchained, and then they kind of just casually walked deeper into the darkness of their jail. they were far too big to fit through the main entrance, so I'm assuming there was a bigger, dragon sized door in the back.

Why would you assume something crazy like that? I assumed they're stuck and I have no idea why Tyrion bothered unchaining them.
"Hey Dave? Larry? Can you get the dragons through the service access out back? Dave? Larry? What are these charred remains...?"

Came for everyone complaining about how much screen time Sam received, leaving disappointed.
Actually not that disappointed, glad everyone seems to be coming around on that angle. Also does Sam even know Valyrian steel kills white walkers? I cannot remember if he left the same time as Jon went north with the ships (which was where Jon discovered Valyrian steel kills white walkers) or if he left when Jon returned. I seem to think he left the same time as Jon though, so he wouldn't know about the powers of Valyrian steel yet and him taking the sword in his mind is nothing more than a big #### you to his dad.
