Default Best Laptop Deals?

I gave away my laptop to my mother-in-law, so need a new one. Rather than just ordering one from Future Shop, as usual, I'm wondering if anyone has better suggestions? You guys have told me where to buy camera equipment and cables - maybe a laptop too?

I have always found that ordering one directly from the manufacturer makes it easier to deal with warranty or service issues afterward. For example, if you have a problem and take it back to Future Shop you need your reciept etc and then all they are going to do is send it back to Dell/Hp/etc. You can bypass the middle man and use their website to order you are almost always able to find out if you are getting a good deal, because it is so easy to just Google the model.

Red Flag Deals, Dell Day of Deals, Using Memory Express and price matching with Shopbot.ca are all ways I would use.

Just grab one from a nerd. They're a nerd so getting the best laptop is important to them. But they can't do anything about it when you take it from them since they're a nerd.

Tiger Direct has a lot of refurb sales. I got a great deal on a gaming laptop last year from them.

The only difference between me and an average nerd is that I've had sex with women, so not sure if I could overpower one...

What do you guys think of these:

Or should I just wait for Boxing Day?

Ever hear of CDI? CDI has always been big in refurbished PC sales, but just recently they've got access to Dell open box inventory.

Take a look at their open box laptops here...

I'm pretty sure you get a full factory warranty with them, too.

I just bought an XPS 15 directly from Dell's website. It was a huge pain in the ass. In the end, I think I had been on hold for 3-4 hours during the week. If you are getting one of their high performance models, don't expect to get your laptop for at least 3 weeks, despite that it says 24 hour shipping on most models on the front page of the website... I think that must only apply to the Inspiron and other cheaper models.

Anyways, for the money you can't beat Dell. In the end, I think I would have preferred going directly to a dealer just so I wouldn't have to go through all the hoops Dell makes you go through.
