Not as far as I know, because from what I understand user photos are not hosted on CP's server.

Just right click the image --> view image --> copy that url --> paste into cp. Only downside is t'll break or change if the site that holds the image changes the url.

I want to embed the photo, not post a link.

You have to use the [IMG] tags to embed it - if you just post a URL, the forum software will not display it as an inline image.

Okay, as I thought. No way to do it. Thanks, boys (or girls, whatever).

You have basically 2 questions.
1 - Can you "attach" a picture to CP's server and not upload to a picture hosting site? No.
2 - Yes, you can embed pictures in a post if it is hosted elsewhere.

What do you mean there is no way to do it? From what I understand you want to upload an image from your computer and post it to the forum without creating a photobucket account.

If I misunderstood your request then carry on.

Close but not quite what I asked. I want to know if I could do this without using photobucket or something similar, bypassing them to save time. I understand there is no way to do that.

I use the public folder in Dropbox because it is super easy and Dropbox is useful for so many other things. Just put the file in your Public folder and it automatically uploads, then right click the file in and one of the drop box choices will be "Copy Public Link"
Note: The Dropbox link is a referral link, since if you refer more people you get more space to store things (up to 8GB). Also, if you sign up via a referral link you get more space to start as well.

It is possible to do with the forum software, to upload the photo directly to the server rather than having to upload it somewhere else, but that would be a huge increase in our bandwidth usage for sure. I'd rather someone else pay for that
imgur.com is one of the easiest I've used.
