Sens view the Bobby Ryan decision mostly as a hockey decision, wanting to open up a roster spot for younger players. Also wanted to give Ryan a fresh start. Sens have nothing but good things to say about him. But the Sens felt it was good for both sides to part ways.

Id sign him. I think a big big thing would be having Big Ern in his corner. And Ryan, now free of that anchor contract, is exactly what the Flames are looking for. Fast RHS RW with a snipe shot. You can likely sign him cheaper than you could say ohhh a Virtanen.

I wonder if he'd consider Las Vegas on a cheap deal. They do need someone who could score goals on a cheaper deal, and that's something Ryan used to be able to do.
But everything about Las Vegas...is likley what Bobby Ryan needs to avoid.
For the Flames, as others note, is there really a fit? At this point I prefer Lindholm and Mangiapane, and Dube to be the top 3 guys on the right side over Ryan. It would seem unlikely that he would be into a 4th line role.

Fans don't care about LHS on the RW, but the Flames do. They have said so already. They want more RHS FWs. One at minimum, two probably preferable.

I doubt the Sens have trouble making the cap floor. They can probably acquire a boatload of assets to take on bad contracts, particularly ones where the cap hit is higher than the actual salary paid.

Because many folks here just crave their team making news. Signings just for the sake of it. This, despite being knowledgeable fans. Its the same reason why people badly want the flames to sign hall. Its the story they want to consume, and thus they look past all the reasons why the flames should not spend millions on him.
Really its the Canadian market syndrome.

I'll admit this was my logic when the Flames signed Jagr.
It was very exciting, despite the fact that Jagr had slowed down.

But even a 'slowed down' Jagr had value. Singing him improved the team (albeit only a little). It was a shame that injuries derailed it.
Plus, the guy's a legend.
