Default Windows 10 issues

I don't know if the updater is specifically causing issues, but I've had 2 work PC's this week be turned off and people can't remote in. I think Windows is updating these machines, then leaving them in the off state, which is obviously not idea.

Occasionally with my home PC I'll put it to sleep, and the next morning it will be off. I assume it is a windows update causing this behavior.

Any ideas how to stop this? I have sleep and hibernate disabled on the work boxes. Am I missing something?

Active hours in windows update? It will install updates at that time and then restart the computer.

Would either locking down windows update completely at an admin level, or select the "pause updates for 7 days" option work for your situation?

I still want the updates, I just want it to reboot after, not just turn off.

We have had a lot of people turning off their computers. They are on a laptop, and when done for the day they do start- shutdown. Not realizing they are shutting down the PC that they are RDP'd into.

I have modified my instructions telling people to close their RDP session by closing the window at the top.

I checked and one the machines looks like it had an unexpected shutdown just after 4:00pm, so I assume there was an issue after disconnecting on that one. Will have to keep an eye on that.

Looks like I jinxed myself. About 5 minutes ago my work PC shut down on me. Same with my colleague beside me.

Looking further at my own PC. Updates were installed March 16th- nothing since. When my computer shut down, this was in the event viewer:
Event 109, Kernel-Power
The kernel power manager has initiated a shutdown transition
Shutdown Reason: Button or Lid

Weird. I assume it is a laptop? Maybe someone flopped it closed?

Nope, desktop PC. And to clarify, my colleague who normally sits beside me had it happen to him at the exact same time. We were both working from home, and RDP'd into our computers at the time.

I may need to get the guys at work to give me a new HP laptop.

They can’t solve the blue screen of death I just started experiencing.

Bumping to add my windows 10 newb question.

I cant find in windows an equalizer to adjust treble and bass so I had to download a thing called boom. Why am I having such an issue with this?
