Five trade destinations to watch for Flames defenseman Rasmus Andersson

There’s little doubt that Rasmus Andersson is one of the top players on the trade market this year.

Daily Faceoff head honcho Matt Larkin put Andersson at the very top of his Trade Board on Wednesday, echoing the sentiments expressed by virtually every NHL insider over the past 12 months. Between MacKenzie Weegar, Zayne Parekh and Hunter Brzustewicz, the Calgary Flames have way too many right-handed defenders to justify paying Andersson what he wants over the next seven or eight years. A trade is on the horizon, and even Flames captain Mikael Backlund has seen it coming a mile away.

Beyond the Boxscore: Flames offence remains dry in fourth straight regulation loss

The Calgary Flames offensive woes continued again as the Boston Bruins ran them over in a 4-1 loss at TD Garden.
CF% – 33.93%|| SCF% – 34.9%|| HDCF% – 37.23%|| xGF% – 35.56%
It’s a Team Game – I’m going to start to sound like a broken record in these, but the Flames have just flat out been not good enough since hitting a .500 record. Tonight, their defensive coverage – specifically at their own blue line – led to multiple goals against. The Bruins found space to walk right in, pass enough times to confuse any goaltender through all the open seams in the mixed coverage, and tickle the twine. For the Flames, the second period

Flames trade rumours: Blake Coleman at top of Canadiens wish list

Folks, if you’ve watched the Calgary Flames over the past few seasons, one of the most consistent bright spots in their lineup is forward Blake Coleman.
The 34-year-old Coleman is in the fifth season of a six year deal he signed during the 2021 off-season that carries a $4.9 million cap hit. Along with captain Mikael Backlund, Coleman has been part of the Flames’ shutdown line, and regardless of who’s joined Backlund and Coleman they’ve been the Flames’ most consistent trio.

Flames Takeaways: Coleman injury looms large amid rough stretch

As if things weren’t going poorly enough for the Calgary Flames of late, the club is now dealing with the possibility their best forward this season, Blake Coleman, is injured.

Coleman missed most of the second half of a 4-1 loss in Boston, logging just 9:55 on a night in which he twice left the game.

The injury may have occurred in the waning seconds of the first period when he was wrestled to the ice and onto his right shoulder by six-foot-five, 218-pound Bruins defenceman Mason Lohrei, following an exchange of slashes.

Throwback Thursday: Looking at the trade with the Bruins that turned Andrew Ference into TJ Brodie

However, in this edition of Throwback Thursday, we’ll look at a trade between the two teams that occurred about a month out from the trade deadline. On Feb. 10, the Flames traded Andrew Ference and Chuck Kobasew to the Bruins in exchange for Wayne Primeau, Brad Stuart, and a 2008 conditional fourth-round pick.

A quick heads up that the game will begin on SN West. The other 3 SN channels will join in progress after the the Rangers-Bruins game is finished.

Uh, it's actually Calgary Flames at Pittsburgh Penguins, not Pittsburgh at Calgary, just in case anybody got confused by the title.

Would be something if Wolf started again today.

If Cooley is still sick, it is a possibility.

Playing Wolf like this is like when you play a video game and your player has the red cross next to their name indicating they are injured or fatigued and need to be replaced but you keep chugging along playing them to the end... ROFL

If Coleman misses due to injury this game is a good opportunity to pair Backlund and Farabee to see if that works. Lots of people characterize Joel as Coleman 2.0.

Hopefully Huberdeau is either a healthy scratch or just benched.

Dude has been beyond useless lately. His cap hit still counts if he's munching popcorn in the press box.

He is quickly becoming my favourite prospect. It's early, but we seem to have a real talent on hand here - hats off to the Flames scouts for this one.
