No. I don't think Marleau and Thornton have a UFA partnership. Look out for Calgary on Marleau.

Awesome thanks!!!
My hopes are starting to rise on this. Best UFA fit outside of Radulov who won't sign a short deal

LA pressing hard on Joe. Don't see likewise interest in Marleau - Calgary strong on him. Joe gives more flexibility, immediately upgrades PP

I absolutely love Marleau, but if he is asking for a 6-year contract as per the rumor, I want the Flames to keep their distance.

You might be right but we don't exactly have the greatest record at figuring out goaltending in the past few seasons either

If Tre pulls the Marleau thing off on a 2 year deal he would indeed be a grand master wizard!

Gaudreau - Monahan - Ferland
Tkachuk - Backlund - Frolik
Marleau - Bennett - Lazar
Stajan - Jankowski - Brouwer
could swap Marleau and Ferland too. Marleau can play all 3 forward positions well i believe.

6 year? Where did you see that? No 37 year old in their right mind would ask for a 6 year deal.
I read a 3 year ask but I bet he could be widdled down to 2

6 years? 7? If Marleau is asking for either of those, he's insane.
Gaudreau - Monahan - Marleau
Tkachuk - Backlund - Frolik
Ferland - Bennett - Versteeg
Lazar - Jankowski - Brouwer
Stajan
Perfect forward corps, IMO. Versteeg will be back too, I'm confident of that

I see Marleau being overpriced and at anything more than a year or two his play could drop off a cliff. I would sooner play some of our younger guys. If we didn't have Brouwer and his anchor contract I'd be more interested.

I'd really like Marleau too.
However, our expectations on production need to be realistic.
These are his last 4 seasons - all 82 games:
2013-14: 70 pts
2014-15: 57 pts
2015-16: 48 pts
2016-17: 46 pts
The prior 4 full seasons before that he was about a .75-1.0 pt/gm player
He's clearly on a decline in production, so we can expect probably a 0.5 pt/gm player here if he comes.

I would just switch Ferland and Marleau.
People always state 1st line RW as the hole on this team but Ferland looks great there. The real issue this team had was depth scoring from Bennett's line.
Marleau makes way more sense there.
Gaudreau - Monahan - Ferland
Tkachuk - Backlund - Frolik
Marleau - Bennett - Versteeg
Lazar - Jankowski - Brouwer

The Fourth Period is reporting that the Flames have interest in Marleau and Sharp.

If we could get Marleau to match his production from last year (with the obvious slight drop that comes with age) and Brouwer could bounce back this team would have some pretty serious forward depth. Late playoff round caliber.

I don't think that Marleau is coming here to play on the third line. If he does initially I see him getting a look on the top line. Perhaps he takes a spot on the 3M line (Marleau still counts even though it is his last name)
Marleau-Monahan-Gaudreau
Frolik-Backlund-Brouwer
Tkachuk-Bennett-Lazar
Ferland-Jankowski-Foo
