They've actually had a few more than three:

- Original home/away (1980-1994)
- Pedestal home/away (1994-2001)
- Horse heads (1998-2007)
- Cup run jerseys home (2004-2007)/away (2001-2007)
- Reebok edge jerseys (2007-present)
- Heritage classic (2011)
- Script alternates (2013-2016)

I know all the jerseys. He appeared to be talking about the full home and away jersey re-designs, which we've only had three. Otherwise he would have mentioned the horsehead third.

While the horsehead seems a bit divisive (I think it looked alright but better as a shoulder patch), looking back what I like about those jerseys is the red C shoulder patch. As a full logo, the red on black could make a nice looking third jersey for a couple years (really just a flip of our current jersey).

So is it fair to assume that every single jersey in the NHL will now how 3 vertical stripes up the right or left (or both) side of the jersey? Yippee.

If the stripes are anything like this, I don't think I'll mind all that much

Oh man, if we waited ten years to get rid of piping and a blue shoulder patch only to get that much intrusive striping on the new Flames jersey.....

I could be wrong but I'm nearly positive I read somewhere that Adidas would not be putting the three stripes on the NHL jerseys, but they'll be on the practice/ASG/World Cup jerseys.

I'm guessing numerous teams, including the original 6, refuse to change their look to show the Adidas stripes.

My worry however, like when the Reebok jerseys came out with that template featuring the vertical striping, is that some teams including the Flames will adopt the Adidas template.

This was just posted on EA NHL Facebook page:

Generally on the flags, they use the teams primary colours, and that would be the black C in past versions. But in the screenshot of the video that has the NHL 18 watermark in the bottom, it's white.

Could be nothing. But could be something.

EDIT: Seems like it's nothing. It's how it actually is in real life.

I'm not entirely sure, but it may have been the retro colours in NHL 17 too. Might be mistaken but I think I remember seeing the banner in the retro colours.

It is interesting that there is no black on that logo.

Between that and the fact that pretty much all the Flames marketing material over the last we months (including the website) has limited the amount of black used I wouldn't be surprised to see the retro colors return full time.

False alarm.

The actual Nashville arena has that banner too.
