Nope but I would offer him a job in the organization if he would be interested in coaching, scouting, or another position. He's a smart player and quality individual and I don't see why he can't follow guys like Conroy and Gelinas if he's inclined.

I feel like Stajan is headed up to the front office once either his 1000th game hits or the end of the season.
If he gets an NHL contract I think it's elsewhere. They acquired Shore to be his replacement IMO.

I don't know why how many games he has played is part of the discussion of whether to bring him back or not. If the team's goal is to help players achieve milestones, then they better bring him back. If the team's goal is winning, then who cares how many games he has played.
I would say no. I would rather fourth line roles be taken by young players who have potential to improve. When people complain about not getting enough out of the bottom six, Stajan is one of the problems.

Stajan is the Playoff Run MVP.
Speculation is boring. Personally I'm enjoying living in the present.

Stajans milestone happens in 4 games.....
Has zero bearing on his playing here beyond this season.

Except Matt Cullen can skate and averages around 30 points a season in his last 5 seasons. Over 10 goals 4 of 5 years with a 16 goal season
Matt Stajan's production is about half what Cullen's has been. There are better veteran cheap 4th line options out there than Stajan

He'll be a beast for us if the Flames can make the playoffs. But I think he's likely done after this year. I'd love to see him stick around with the franchise in some capacity though.

Stajan's Penalty Shot goal against Edmonton and his series winner against the Canucks will always hold a special place in my heart as a Flames fan.
That said I didn't want him signed to the contract he has now, never mind another one.

Good guy to have as a 13 guy that can step in and play if needed.
He has solid underlying stats this year and could do well centering two young 4th line guys.
|
LOL this joker even wants him for more than league minimum!
Jeepers guys. We should aspire to have better players than Stajan, and we should hope they are younger.

Calling me a Joker.. Lol

Look at Stajan's underlying numbers here. HE has been solid as a defensive forward this year. There is no guarantee a younger guy would be better than he is a 4th line guy,

You don't want the 13th forward to be a developing player, so a guy like Stajan is perfect for that roll. He can still play as a 4th liner, he just makes too much money currently. At 1M or less, he is good value for the 13th forward roll.

We know that he isn’t worth 3m per year, but you cannot deny that he’s been a true warrior on this team and a key player in the bottom six. And i don’t ever recall him complaining about his playing time.
Would you re-sign the guy if he was willing to take a 1-2 year contract with only 33% of what he is making currently?

I think the reason Stajan is playing much better now is he knows this is last kick at the can and he is likely out of the NHL after this. Going to be great to have him going balls to the wall 110% for the remainder of the games and hopefully playoffs though.
