Oilers talking to Maroon, they want to re-sign him. Just like the other overachievers, Maroon should be asking for a lot of money, even though he's basically a product of McDavid. 4x4, it's the new 6x6.

This is probably Maroons biggest and last shot at his retirement payday. I don't doubt that he's going to be looking in the 4 to 4.5 area on a multi-year (4) year deal.

At the end of the day, we're through the looking glass people. The Oilers are going to have to make some hard choices.

In a world in which Kris Russell makes 4x4 Patrick Maroon must be a $20 m player over the same time frame.

Meanwhile, the pre-season champs put their title on the line tonight against the Utica Comets.

Title intact, as they ice Lucic, Draisaitl, Klefbom, Larsson and a bunch of other NHLers, while the Canucks don't even bother to dress Brock Boeser, Thatcher Demko or Olli Juolevi. Seriously, I'm pretty sure that Lucic and Draisaitl alone get paid more than the entire Vancouver roster.

Oiler fans (and probably Chiapet) are counting on the salary cap going to $80 million plus next season. I’m not sure how they some to that conclusion? If it does all is well in Coilerland and they can sign Maroon before he has another big year and wants even more money. Of course the opposite could also happen!

Damn those Oilers for dressing the vet minimum + 1 in pre season!

The pre-season championship is very important in Edmonton.

Especially this year since they didn't get to have their annual draft lottery party for the first time in a decade. They must be going into championship withdrawal.

The salary cap isnt likely going anywhere in a hurry.

Its been going up lately only by the PA using their escalator.

The Canadian dollar being up to 80 cents won't hurt.

A rise of at least 2-3 million seems reasonable.

If the Canadian dollar reaches 85 cents a big cap jump may be possible. Who really knows though.

I agree, a 2-3M rise isnt out of the question, but again as that cap goes up due to the escalator so does escrow.

An increase in the Canadian Dollar is also sure to help.

Nice. For 2 million Chia could go get 1/2 a Kris Russell.

Watching the Grease against the Jets tonight. Team Grease still appears to have horseshoes planted firmly up their arses.

I really hope this isn't the refrain on this board for yet another season, it was incredibly tiresome to hear the whining from our fanbase about their so-called luck all last year.

Lol there's "contender" again. Sounds like penticton and pre-season has all but confirmed their belief in the team up there. They sure put those rosters of prospects and tryouts to shame. Next up, Stanley Cup!

Congrats on denying an underdeveloped teenager a free spot on your roster for the first time in years. You know you've truly made it when.
