I’m sure Scorp has to be a little happy that with Klimchuk gone, this topic won’t come up again next prospect vote. Bacuse you know it would have.

Why would Toronto do this? Seems like a win for the Flames on paper. Or maybe not?

Meh, I didn't mind Klimchuk but he reminded me a lot of Wotherspoon........a decent player who may get a cup of coffee in the NHL and does well in the AHL but really doesn't have much of a future at all with the Flames. They needed a depth d-man more than Klimchuk so I'm fine with this deal. He wasn't going to be with the organization much longer anyways.

I was never too hopeful of Klimchuk as a prospect and never predicted him to be anything more than a 3rd or 4th liner at the NHL level. At #28 though, it was a decent roll of the dice at the time.
He seems like a good guy and hard worker, so I hope he finds his way with the Leafs.

given how thin Leafs are on the back end, then why did they trade him if he's this good?

I like Nielsen. Good kid. My oldest was the 7th Skater at a Hurricanes game once and Nielsen was one of the guys who went out of their way to talk to him as they waited in the walkway to go out on the ice. Tall dude too! He practically bent over in half to talk to my son.

He was good in Lethbridge as a junior
So far this year in the AHL he's been a healthy scratch more than not. He's only played 8 games

Can someone dissect this trade from the perspective of tml or dubas?

To be fair to Feaster, Klimchuk was taken right around where a lot of people predicted he would be taken. And when talking about late round 1st rounders, most of them are misses.
This was actually why I was in favour of letting Iginla ride it out with the Flames. I would have rather seen him ride off into the sunset at the end of the season than get a weak return.

So Klimchuk must be the Leafs top prospect now?

This is pretty ironic from my point of view. I am apart of a sim hockey league were we try to mimic the NHL as closely as possible. I am the gm of the Flames and actually drafted Nielsen in 2015. He is still a prospect for my sim Flames, and now a real flame prospect.

Was this necessary? Should we take him back of the shed and kick the #### out of him for liking different players?
