Locke actually led the OHL in scoring two years in a row, so he was good at 19.

Enough low risk potential reward moves though and one could pay off.
I wouldn't mind seeing him added to the Heat next season. (Holmberg)

Anwyays, Go Klimchuk!

I realize it's probably been addressed many times, but are he and Poirier eligible to play AHL next year? I seem to remember some confusion?

Emile Poirier is eligible to play in Abbotsford next year as he is a late 94' birthdate.
Morgan Klimchuk is not eligible as he is a 95' birth year, and must return to the WHL if he fails to make the Flames full time.

Damn. Klimchuk should dominate the dub next year

It will also be nice to watch him in the WJCs alongside McDavid (has played on his wing in past international tournaments along with Sam Reinhart).

Klimchuk had 5 points (1G+4A) in an 8-0 blowout over Lethbridge on Tuesday.

As pointed out by Corey Pronman, Klimchuk is producing similiarly to Curtis Lazar (taken 17th overall 2013).

Lazar: 48gp 35G 30A 65pts +39
Klimchuk: 49gp 26g 40A 66pts +28

If you project Klimchuk's points per game to 60 games. He would be tied for 7th in WHL scoring ATM.

Even more impressive when you consider Lazar's Edmonton Oil Kings score 0.8 more goals per game!

Klimchuk is in on 29.6% of Regina's goals (playing 78% of their games)
Lazar is in on 25.3% of Edmonton's goals (playing 79% of their games)

Jeez, I hope d-man #9 at the 0:45 second mark doesn't come anywhere near the Flames' system. That effort was utterly brutal.

He made Klimchuck make Poirier look slow.

I've got a chance to watch Klimchuk at three games now, I paid very close attention to him at all times since the Blades are horrible, and the thing that impresses me the most about him is his energy level. All these young guys play with piss and vinegar, but he always seems to have an extra jump in his step. He skates really well, back checks really hard, and is great at using the other team as a screen for his shots. All of that hustle puts him into great position for scoring chances shift after shift.

It's nice to see a guy who isn't scared to shoot the puck. If he can keep that confidence heading into Abbotsford he will do well.

And as far as the big club goes, they are really preaching guys who buy into the system, well Klimchuk appears to be a treat for coaches because not only does he listen well but he translates what he is told into his play. Coachable players are like striking oil!

This kid has been somewhat under the radar (I know I kind of discounted him after being picked) but it's nice to see him show progression year over year. If he's healthy he should be primed for an impressive 2014/15 season in the WHL.

Might not be a popular reference around here but it sounds like he is a Chris Drury type player (the Avs version).

He's had an impressive year this year. Over a 72 game season, he'd be on pace for 100 points on a good team but a team that doesn't really score a lot of goals.
(I get what you're saying though.)

Klimchuk plays against Lethbridge next week. With the way Lethbridge has been playing lately, you can almost guarantee another huge night for Klimchuk. I'm tempted to go to the game to watch the Flames prospect, but as a Hurricanes fan, it is also pure torture to watch the team lose like this all the time.
