Bennett is so much more serviceable than Pool party at this point and is a better RFA option for Edmonton with Puljujarvi threatening to play over seas that it would cost more than just a late pick for us to swap Bennett/Puljujarvi.
Maybe something bigger ?
Brodie + Bennett + Jankowski
For
Hopkins + Puljujarvi + Kassian (balances toughness lost from dealing Bennett)
Deal Frolik for picks
Gaudreau - Monahan - Lindholm
Tkachuk - Hopkins - Neal
Mangiapane - Backlund - Puljujarvi
Dube - Ryan - Kassian
Giordano - Andersson
Hanifin - Hamonic
Valimaki - Stone
Kylington - Yelesin

In fact he’s a better player than Sam. Why would the oilers make that deal?

Can’t understate the Bennett/Mcdavid factor; they’ve been friends since they were young and played a lot of youth hockey together; Bennett is a 70 point player at least with Mcdavid IMO

If that Flames lineup doesn't make you want to puke in your mouth, I don't know what will. 3 dirty Edmonton greaseballs in our lineup. Kassian?? I don't want to have to look at those lifeless psycho eyes for a full season and maybe more. No thank you.
Edit: And we lose the trade to boot! Awful.

Sorry, it would have to be brodie+Bennett for nuge+pulju
I left out TJ.
I would do it.
Edit: I would also try to take on kassian FWIW though not at the expense of janko

Really at the end of the day let’s just say no to dealing with Edmonton; I did that because I was bored not because I want to see it happen. If the Flames stand pat here and wait until the deadline I’m honestly happy; no reason to force improvements on a team that placed 2nd in the league last year.
I’m hoping to see some internal growth too this year from forwards; graduate Mangiapane for a full season; Jankowski can take a step; graduate Dube and I even think a guy like Phillips is gonna force managements hands at some point this season.

If Bennett is part of the return it makes me think the Flames would be after Nuge

I think the Flames would likely be targeting RNH since he would fit the #2C role, which the Flames were targeting with Kadri. I think the Flames would need to trade Brodie and Bennett.
Personally, I think it would just be RNH and JP for Brodie and Bennett. The Flames would then have to trade Frolik for picks and buyout Stone. They would then sign a RHD for 1 year and 700 K.
Gaudreau - Monahan - Lindholm
Tkachuk - RNH - Puljujarvi
Mangiapane - Backlund - Neal
Jankowski - Ryan - Dube
LW - Quine - Czarnik
Giordano - Andersson
Hanifin - Hamonic
Valimaki - Petrovic
Kylington/Davidson
Rittich

People want Kassian now? (searching for the vomit emoji)
I think the Offseason is too long for some to handle.

It’s not that I want Kassian; just trying to replace toughness that we would undoubtedly lose if we traded Bennett. Definitely not a desire to bring Kassian in though; sorry for the vomit inducing post so early in the am all!!

No. Pulju isn't an NHL player. This is terrible value for Bennett.

I'll admit, the Tenderness is one of the more annoyingly effective oilers. One of the very few on that team that can do it without Connor holding his hand.
Affer a lengthy decontamination process he might actually be decent.

Neal for RNH (250k retained). Cap hit is a wash. Oilers get their top line RW for McDavid (shhhh), we get a good #3C. Oilers get worse but don't use more than one line anyway.

Even though they have McD, Lucic has rendered the Oilers useless for a while. Why help a division rival (let alone THEM) out of this? Leaving Lucic right there essentially is equal to the points we gain from sweeping them each season.
Just leave that mess alone to fester.

RNH is not a 3rd line centre. He has scored 58 points per 82 games throughout his career. Monahan has had 63.
