Mrs. Furnace has Birk-like sandals as like Minnie they were recommended for her feet. I’ll take someone wearing Birks any day over flip flops. That slap slap sound of flip flops triggers me.
No mention of fisherman style sandals (aka Keens) yet? Are they in the least “offensive” category?

They may be the most offensive. At that point, just wear a sneaker.

Why do they have a caution symbol on them? That doesn't make any sense. Is their a "yield" on the other side?

Huh, weird, I have no idea. I didn't even notice that. I wonder if mine have that symbol. They're supposed to be non-marking soles, so maybe that's it?
ETA: mine don't have that symbol, just checked - they're Vibram brand.
ETA again: According to google -

Just got done unpacking 1700 pairs of Keen’s yesterday. They are great sandals for toddlers. Can run around without them falling off, protects them from stubbed toes but cooler that shoes for the hate.

what's wrong with sandals?
when it's 30 out, why would I want to wear socks and shoes? at least with sandals my feet are cooler and not nearly as sweaty.
and yes, I also sometimes wear them with jeans.
it's just footwear. for average everyday activities, unless you don't take care of your feet and your toes look disgusting, wear what you want.
I would never wear them to a more formal event, of course.
and for safety, I can't wear them at work.

Sandal people are the ones that end up barefoot on planes. Heathens.

I can only hope that some day I too have so little to worry about in life that I start taking note of, criticizing, and getting *upset* about what brand of sandals people choose to wear.

I recently had to have this conversation with my 11 year old step-daughter who is having trouble making friends. She dresses like a slob because it's comfortable. I suggested that if she paid more attention to her own personal appearance and hygiene she might have an easier time of things. I was gentle about it and the next day, voila, she had a new friend.
If you look like you don't care about yourself because you dress like a slob, how are you going to entice others to care about you as well?

I agree with this.
Now I dress like a slob so random people I don't know leave me alone.

Does that bother you as a passenger in the same car or are you in another car? Same car, agreed.

As has been discussed: yes, wear whatever you want. Don’t change unless you want to.
But also accept that you’re constantly being judged, and if you aren’t equally participating in the fun of judging people for looking subjectively stupid, you’re missing out on a great slice of life.

In my extended group, there's a little pocket of super nice people. If you try to make fun of someone, they'll be like, "aww, he's a good guy." Yeah, I effing know he's a good guy, but we can still make fun of the giant zit on his forehead. I hate people that pride themselves on being non-judgmental. They're boring every single time.

They're liars every single time. Everyone is judgemental. Some people just aren't vocal about their judgements.
