Default October 16, just one game.

It is the solo NHL game for Monday Night Hockey. Both teams have 4-1-0 records for this intra-division match up.

A lot of empty seats visible at the start. They will fill, but holy late arriving crowd!

Crazy sequence just now.

Abdelkader shorthanded breakaway after a weird bounce off the glass. He gets hauled down from behind by Hedman, and crashes into Vasilevsky, before Helm follows up and scores.

TB challenges and it's ruled no goal due to goalie interference.

Refs then award the original penalty to Hedman, before discussing it and realize it should have been a penalty shot called originally instead of a penalty.

So Abdelkader gets the penalty shot and scores!

TBH, watching that sequence, I think they completely got it right. Was a difficult sequence to officiate and was frankly shocked they got it all correct.

Props to the officials. (oh wow that felt dirty...)

That sequence of events was 6 minutes, whistle to whistle. Personally, I would prefer the refs take 6 minutes to get it right, rather than 2 minutes to get it wrong.

Power move by Mantha almost nets the Wings a goal to tie the game. Walked Hedman pretty good.

Will Kucherov score in all 82 games?

Didn't know where else to point this out, but watching tsn and they at covering a story of how someone they listed themselves as a "top 50" NHL player is now playing with the fourth line on his team. Lots of potential in the kid, and I'm sure he'll be great, but maybe tsn will learn to wait for the potential to come to fruition before naming somebody a top current talent in the best league in the world. End mini rant

He's kind of been playing on the third line so not a big drop to the fourth.

He has looked really bad this season though, but if they are putting Brown on the third line it is probably to provide a bit of defensive ability to that line because that line has been the weak spot for the Leafs this season.

Yes, Marner, but like I said, I do think the kid has potential to be great. I'm more bothered by the Toronto bias of jamming him into the top 50 before he is actually there. Now he's been shuffled down the lineup, which is something that can happen to a kid in his second year, but probably not to someone who is actually one of the best 50 players in the league.
