What kind of offer would it take for you to trade Sam Bennett?
What do you believe Sam Bennett's potential is, and do you believe he can that on this team?
Can Mark Jankowski step into that 3C role (and do a better job)?
I've been contemplating the idea more and more, but it's an extreme risk for the fact that he's a 21 year old former top 5 pick that has shown the flashes of being a star. There is also a notion floating around that he's no good if he doesn't become that 60 point forward, which is false. His value is the most difficult to pinpoint on this team in my opinion. We know that Bob Murray in Anaheim adores this kid and made Treliving a serious offer for him this summer.
So my question to you is, what kind of (realistic) offer would it take for you to trade Sam Bennett? Would you want back another struggling young forward with potential (Reinhart/Galchenyuk/Ritchie/D.Strome)? Would you want him to be packaged for an older star (Duchene/Neal/Wheeler)? Would you deal him for futures? Maybe a chance to recoup a first, maybe for a shot at Brady Tkachuk?
I'm interested to hear your opinions

I would want way too much that the team trading for Bennett just balks.
You either think that Bennett has it in him to become something really great here in Calgary, or you don't. I don't think of trading Sam at all, since I do believe that he is becoming really dependable defensively, plays with the sort of piss and vinegar this team sorely lacks, and I believe his offence will start coming through and make people wonder on these boards if Monahan shouldn't be moved down to the 2nd line.
I like where Bennett fits-in with the makeup of this team, and I would rather the Flames show patience in him as I think it will really pay off. No team in the NHL is going to pay what I would want for Bennett.
Anaheim? Rackell.. and then maybe a plus after that, and I am sure if you were to post that on HF, it would ridiculed. That is what I think of Bennett.

I feel like we'd be trading low on Bennett. Better off keeping him because I don't think his value is particularly high to other teams compared to his potential.

Moot point IMO. I don't think there is any reason to consider trading him on his current contract.

We have Bennett for 2 years at under $2mil. Then a RFA that we can lock up at what he proves his worth to be. Backlund could be gone at the end of this year if his demands are too high. We will look foolish if we trade Bennett for a winger and Backlund leaves and our centre depth goes from awesome to weak. Do not trade strength down the middle. When we have an injury with one of our centers Jankowski will get in. Bennett's potential is huge, possibly at worst Backlund. Let's just be patient.

Right now on his current contract if he does firgure it out and starts producing it would be awesome. He still is getting checked off the puck quite a bit and I do wish we can implant Tkachuk's IQ into Bennett. Bennett brings a lot to the game that doesn't show up on the stat sheet but at some point he's gonna have to start prodcuing points. Don't really think him and Versteeg have ever looked good together.

Oh , let's trade Bennett.....how is it that he is the whipping boy alongside troy Brower. I just don't understand it. Every time I turn around there's some hate getting thrown in the direction of Sam Bennett.
Anyway I like Sam Bennett and I hope we keep him

Trading Bennett without giving him a solid chance with top line players would be Ludacris. The question should be who do we trade to get him the winger he needs.

Not ready to give up on him yet and am willing to risk hurting his value. The Flames could probably swap him for Galchenyuk or build a package around him for Duchene but I think those moves would be mistakes.
What I would really love to see for at least 10 games is putting him with Tkachuk. They could play with Versteeg, Ferland or Jagr. I want to see those 2 build something together. The Flames have Monahan and Gaudreau and the moment we drafted Tkachuk I figured he would be paired with Bennett. They both play an in your face style and get under the opponents skin.

Seems people turn him into a whipping boy by proxy.
...trading Bennett would be asinine. He’s here to stay.

Trading Bennett right now would make no sense, his value I imagine is next to non-existent currently. Although if he has a bounce back year I would not be opposed to Treliving taking a look at moving him for a comparable piece up front or to try to get back a few draft picks. The other option is to realize he may never develop into a great NHL center and to shift him to his off-wing. Frees up a spot for Jankowski who I personally feel has the more natural tools and defensive acumen to be a great 3rd line center. The simple fact of the matter is that the Flames have too many centers and something will need to be done about it. Grooming Janko to play that role with our window open like it is would be smart asset management. Then you can still have Bennett in case of injuries.

Jack Eichel or Nathan MacKinnon could do it, I guess.
Not much appetite for trading this kid. One of the most unique complete packages of any center in the league.
I wouldn't trade him for anyone over 23 or any winger.

Why not just try Bennett at the wing for a season and see if he turns into one of these players?
He'd almost surely fit better with Monahan & Gaudreau than Ferland does.
